    If you have 2 partners, they can help with the decent. Other then that, find a gym w/ bumpers..Or buy your own and bring them in. Thats what we do. After you hit a big clean or snatch, part of the satisfaction is dropping the weight!

    Hey bro, your training regiment and numbers are pretty close to mine. Have you ever thought of competing in strongman? You would probaly make a pretty good 231 lbr. Your olympic backround will def have a positive carryover to alot of the events.

    In the gym our lifts revolve around the deadlift, over head jerk, clean, squat, and good morning. We also may mix in some farmers, yoke, and stones after the gym workout. Sundays are event day and obviously we train the events that are in our next competiton.

    About how much can you deadlift?

    thats alot of weight w/ a hook grip. you obviously have high pain tolerance. you should check out brad gillinghams training video. he uses a hook grip also. http://www.jackalsgym.com/ my current max is 650 and not making progress due to injuries :mad: . im 6'00, 230lbs.

    You should always use the mini's when doing upperbody. Using heavier bands is a recipe for shoulder/ rotator cuff disaster.

    deadlifts suck!!!

    Brad Gillingham also uses a hook grip. One of the only world class deadlifters that does not use a mixed grip. Anyways, if the OP is complaining about his hands hurting using a regular grip, there is noo way he has the cajones/ pain tolerance to use a hook grip.
