MsBeverlyHills said:any of you guys do this? I was reading a Louie Simmons article in powerilfting USA & he suggest putting plates under your heels puts extra work on the lower back. He also likes raising the toes 1-2 inches to put more pressure on the hamstrings.
personally- havent tried this. when i did raise ny heels squatting- balance was off & i was falling forward too much.
so does his idea work?
IMO ....
Raising toes pre-stretches hamstrings. But I'd be careful. I've pulled a hamstring and that really hurts. Nice and slow ....
Heels raised for squats?
I used to do that and hated it because of the balance.
Then I was given Adidas shoes with a wooden insert in the heel. No more balance problem.
Then ......... I'm watching a vid of Platz ... old busted out tennis shoes ... no heel elevation .... all the way down and all the way up ... feet about 18" apart. That's the way to squat.
