Really? i was thought and was taught that he made those claims.
It would change my perspective of the man, otherwise i'm skeptical of anyone who claims to be born of a man in the sky (as any logical and rational person should right?)

If the bible can be trusted, he did make those claims in John 34. He said that He and the Father were One. The Jews wanted to stone him, that is how they understood Him. In John 10 he says he can give eternal life. He is either telling the truth, crazy as hell, or it's possible he was just lying.

this is your opinion. Monotheistic religions that believe in only one god (not the three-part god), don't have what you would call the holy spirit per say, but surely the Jews and Muslims are not all living in "selfish misery".

i wonder though if his words were twisted after the fact,
like billfred alluded to.
the thought of jesus as a good bro spreading peace, not as
a bro going around claiming to be god's son, makes me more interested in the man and his word.

Yes, thats my opinion. You can sub in God for Holy Spirit if you'd like makes no difference to me. I should have just said God. I already told you I don't believe a trinitarian view is a requirement for anyone.
