What reality TV shows are you guys watching?

My missus co-erces me in to watching X Factor every Saturday night. Fortunately I'm half-cut with lager by the time it comes on so no dramas.

I suppose watching all those losers screeching into a mic makes you feel good about yourself!!1

I also have started to throw my own parties at a club here on LI. I will make a thread when my flyer is done.

Let's not make sports out to be that complicated.
Most of these guys didn't even pass their classes.
I bet some cannot even read.
Sports is just another form of silly escapism.
I get sucked into it as well, but I take it for what it is.
Whether or not the team wins or loses it only effects their bank account not mine.
In a sense you are watching reality TV.

just because it is a non fictional form of entertainment/television doesn't constitute it as reality tv. I suppose by that ridiculous definition, CNN and documentaries belong in the reality tv bucket too then.

I get more laughs out of that then I ever would at some POS fake scripted reality t.v. show bullshit....

I've never even watched ANY of them. except for "Average Joe" about 4-5 years ago.

Someday i'll expose the patheticness of reality t.v. by creating "The Homeless Twelve".

I select twelve homeless men to battle to be my own apprentice. I give them roses if I choose they advance to the next week, and they have to compete in various challenges such as eating contests, lifting weights, bumper car racing, golf, drink-offs, ect....

It will be all done with improv and no script....

People have different taste in what they call entertainment, if you think Reality TV is mindless then go read a fuckin book about Confucius or watching something that stimulates you. Why do people need to like the same thing you do? I personally think watching Sports all day is a waste of time but I don't think the people who indulge in that are fucking stupid, it's just different taste. When you come on here and insult everyone posting up shows and say it's "pathetic" to like reality tv youre starting drama of your own. HOW IS THAT ANY DIFFERENT THAN REALITY TV??? All youre looking for is an argument or to start some drama.

I like Survivor only because they have the social dynamic nailed down perfectly. It is great entertainment watching the teams break down over time and seeing the way people interrelate when times are tough or the way people segregate themselves.

I like the Amazing Race because it looks like a crapload of fun, even though most of the contestants are total retards.

And Jersey Shore is addictive because they are such a gong show. I love the "Smush Room".
 
I like America's Next Top Model.
I just like it because it makes me feel glamorous. lol
I can always pick the winner too.
I figure it's between Kayla, Rhianna and Ann so far this season. Ann could be it if she polishes up her social skills.

Fantasy factory is a great show too. I like all those survival shows. There needs to be a survival channel.

struck a nerve huh? I'm guessing you spend quite a bit of time watching that type of garbage, otherwise it wouldn't have garnered this type of knee jerk emotional reaction.

Again, there is no virtually no parallel between traditional reality tv and sports. So using that analogy is idiotic. Sports as far as what it represents in society has both a very primitive and reptilian brain appeal, as well as a deeper sense of identity and projection. The idea of competition to that extent is hard wired in almost every male's brain. Now, do some reality tv's promote competition? There are quite a few that do. But how many of those actually require training their entire lives for under a standarized set of rules and with precedent? American Idol might be one example, but shows like that are much more contrived than a true representation of one's skill level. Most reality "TV" isn't even reality TV. It's contrived under the guise of non fiction.

As far as people having different preferences in entertainment, preferences don't mean something isn't artistically or creatively stupid or pointless. Which is what reality TV is for the most part. Are there a few exceptions? Sure, but the fact it has been the predominant form of television the past 11 years or so has meant that a non stop flow of crap programming has resulted.

Personally, i rather focus on bettering my own life and creating great experiences than watching stupid or unskilled people do extremely unextradionary things.

When I relax on occasion in the evening, a little mindless TV is exactly what I'm looking for. My day is filled with bettering myself physically and mentally is it too much to ask for some mindless entertainment. Besides most of the shows I enjoy watching are about bettering yourself or making it big. TUF, Man vs Wild, Hells Kitchen..etc etc. Some reality tv is mostly garbage but it doesn't mean that people who watch it are gonna go out and act like 'The Situation'. It's like saying that playing video games is gonna make someone go shot an innocent pedestrian.

Your negativity is what really made me comment about your post and that is something that lights my fuse. It's a shame that your negativity has to make someone else feel like shit for watching reality tv b/c you make some degrading remarks about people who enjoy it. Let it go man.

Good post bro, CW is a negative douche bag for the most part, but not a bad bro. I think he feels empowered by poinitng out what he sees as flaws in others. Prolly would have made and damn good Klansman or Nazi, these are just a few examples of others who hate people and degrade them for their diffrences. This is your opinion and not mine. Jersey shore is like a social experiment to see how people act. There is a story of relations between the idividuals as well. You don't watch it so you don't know that. I do watch sports and already gave my opinion on that.

I watch Project Runway (Go Mondo!!!). Used to watch the veterinarian shows on TLC, but it seems that network took a turn towards the exploitative/sensationalized.
