me: away on business.
i call in to our weekly sales and marketing meeting. now, typically, sales tries to blame their failure on marketing, so we try to cover our asses as much as possible.
During the meeting, the head of sales expressed some disatisfaction with our weekly email blast. I said that his team has been very good about updating me with new contacts, and if he did that as well, the list would be more complete.
Him: "I just think it's funny that I went through all the trouble of implementing SalesForce (contact management system) and Marketing is barely utilizing it."
The boss said he had a very good point, then asked me why is that. I was at a loss for words for a second, then said, "Because when you implemented it, you opted not to get the campaign feature without asking me if I need it...."
now it was his turn to sweat. He said, "why didn't you tell me you needed it?"
and... knowing that might come up, i said, "i did. on 12/20 and again on 1/5"
my supervisor sent me a text message that said "you're awesome".
