some of those people are "registered" sex offenders for stupid reasons... like a 17 year old kid screwing his 16 year old girlfriend and it is consensual and the parents pursue statutory rape charges

They should sub-categorize this and let people who know who are convicted rapists of non-consentual sex and child sex offenders.

K for saying what I was going to, and it's not always the parents that pursue the charges.
On We t.v. there is a series called Secret Lives of Women. One of the episodes was about child brides. One couple featured was just such a situation, they started dating when he was 18+, she was 14. The sex was consensual. Big surprise, she got pregnant and (with her parents permission) they married. The twist? Even though her parents didn't pursue a case against him, the state did. The kid served his jail time and got out and went back to his wife and child and is now unable to get a decent job because he's a registered sex offender.
I dunno, maybe there should be categories of offenders and only the potentially dangerous/predatory ones publicly listed? Or maybe certain "crimes" need to be treated as a different category altogether. Lumping an 18 year old who is in love with his 15 year old girlfriend in with a 50+ year old child rapist is lacking in both common sense and compassion.
Just google Sex Offender database, this is the first thing that comes up, but there's gotta be 1,000s of others:

Mefans law online is free to look at, there are several ones u have to pay to see but the ligit ones free and offenders conviction will say if it's a rape and the general age of victims... This is serious shit.. In my younger days I was put in a cell with a guy and I broke his jaw cracked his eye socket and gave him a concusion when I knocked him out... Cost me ten gran to get outa that one... Would I do it again??? No cuz I'm older an wiser but it sure did feel good... Fuk em

There are actually people living under the Miami Causeway in tents and shit because they are registered sex offenders. You have to avoid living in like a 1-2 mile range of schools or kids. These guys can't find a location that doesn't have either or both nearby.
It's not because they can't afford it, you drive by there and you can see their BMWs and Benzs parked out there while they sleep in a tent on the side of the road.
They usually wake up each morning, drive back "home" where their wives or parents live, shower, get ready for work and then head out. But they have to be out of that home by dusk. Can't stay overnight.
It's fucked up.

Four years difference, not exactly decades (considering my husband is 11 years older than me). As far as I'm concerned, anyone under 21 is a kid (actually, I don't think people are mature until nearly 30 but I'm going by the scientific definition of maturity, by brain development). And her parents had to sign papers to allow them to get married, so at least they accept the relationship. I had a cousin who did the same thing about 40 years ago and the marriage, last I heard, was still going strong after more than 30 years
Plenty of marriages of 13 and 14 year olds still happen all the time and were the norm up until quite recently (from a historical perspective).Me, personally, I'm considered a prude because I don't condone dating of any sort,, for boys or girls, before age 16, period. Once you let your kids date, this is the risk you run. Place children in adult situations and there is a very good chance they are going to attempt to engage in adult behavior. But short of a chastity belt or house arrest, there ain't a lot you can do to control some young women. There is no reason to saddle a kid who was in love with a lifetime sentence like that.

Well good to hear you don't condone that becouse it's child molestation and that dude got off lucky IMO and who says it's a age diff thing? Cuz it's not,14yo is a freakin child! If that pervert has no business even lookin in that direction.... And my current girlfriend is 27yo I'm 38yo so nobody gives a rats ass bout age diff it's not even a isue the isue is about adults having sex with children... It's not excepted by me, society or the legal system and anyone that wants to contest that and live by there own rules we got a place for you...

That's absolutely right. The sex offender registry is a total joke, and a fraud on the taxpayers. It not only includes men who rape & kill little girls, but as you point out it includes 18-year-old guys with 17 1/2 year-old GFs, and it includes 95 year-old men in nursing homes who got laid while on shore leave by a 17 year-old hooker during World War II. It also includes plea-bargained people who didn't even do anything sexual, such as adults who attended parties where minors got drunk, or even I got threatened with it for taking a leak in a California State park. There was nobody around except a ranger a mile away with a telescope.

No it's not a joke, California like I said before will give details of the Offense so when u look on there you will know what's up with someone pissing in a park and since you brought it up let's see a example of a reg sex ofender that's on the list jus for pissing in a park... Also a 16yo an a 15yo is not going to be on that list either there both minors... Deff not a tax dollar waist! It's one of the few good things bout the system
