Grumpy Old Man

Grumpy Old Biker Bastard
The hoopdie BM got a couple years ago is cute but I think it's time for a new car.

I have 2 choices she likes both are convertibles, any suggesstions on more choices?

Wait for the new slk 350 in 2010, dad is getting one.
New design and everything.

Happy 4th, good friend.

you can't go wrong with ANYTHING made by lexus.

you can't go wrong with ANYTHING made by lexus.

True, the problem is where we live that's what the kids drive to HS.

I was thinking something a little easier to find by BM she tends to lose things/cars/her house.

Lexus would have to be used too cause of the loss of value driving off the lot. I am thinking about a couple year old vehicle that isn't too often seen and one BM can remember what it looks like.

I think the new Land Rover's are badass

When my baby was in the shop last year I drove a new Range Rover and I have to say I LOVED IT.

But that's not quite what I had in mind.

Personally, I REALLY love my car. Never had one that I truly enjoyed/appreciated as the one I have now. The Old Grump just wants to spoil me again because of all the nuttiness we've been going through the past coupla few.

Cars don't impress me. Honestly, they pretty much all look the same to me at first glance. He is having a REAL HARD TIME getting me to say, "OO BABY! I REALLY REALLY WANT THAT ONE."

"I don't like it. Looks like a hyundai."

"Baby, that is a Bentley."

"And? I think it looks like a hyundai at first glance so why ON EARTH would I drop that kind of coin for that particular car?"

There is ONE CAR that I've ever seen that I would really love to have if we can afford it.

LR's drive great! quiet, smooth riding, a certain "wow" factor about them...

BUT

best to keep a reliable american or jap car on the side for the days when the LR is in the shop.

trust me on this one.

oh look at me, I'm too good for a hyundai....

You know Jaguar also had a very bad rep. The running joke for Jag owners (as I am sure you know Rnch) is that you need two of them, one to drive while the other one is in the shop! But the newer models aren't so bad. I've got over 70K miles and with the exception of it needing a new transmission (same damned hing happened to my Ford Windstar) it really has been a peach. Besides, the dealership gives you a rental to drive while your car is in the shop so I am thinkin, "not so bad."

and have you seen the Equus???

Like getting a Beemer 7 series for 60 grand

(of course brand whores like cw need not apply)

lol which one looked like a hyundai?

I've seen quite a few luxury cars that IMHO at first glance look like Ford Taurus's and Hyundais - Mercedes and Bentley come to mind. I also was looking at some Rolls that looked like a Chrysler from the 70's from the rear.

I am not pretentious at all. I'd never even paid much attention to cars. My husband wants to spoil me with "nice things". I hate to come off like a bitch, but if I am going to plunk down that kind of money then it will be a car that looks like the car that I am buying. If I can't find one, then guess what, my current vehicle with the 70K+ miles on it will do me just fine until I find one that DOES blow me away.

I could care less what other people think.

I know what I like and what I don't like. :)

I glad that you could see my point.

If I wanted a Honda then I would pay for a Honda. (BTW I LOVED my Honda Pilot. That was one bad ass car, very pretty and the nicest car that I had ever owned or even sat in with the exception of the rolls rental I'd ridden in on the day I married my ex.) But my hubby wanted me to have a nicer car. And as much as I loved that Pilot, the car he bought for me was waaaaaaaaaay prettier. :)

Seems sorta silly to me to pay a lot of money for a brand that *may or may not* impress others. <--- that to me = foolish.

Mercedes makes nice cars but the more current models all look the same, like Hondas or even Hyundais. I like the really older Mercedes. IMHO they were very classy-looking cars.

One thing about the BM if she don't be likin something she really don't be likin it!

I thought then ones I looked at were prety nice, she said, NO! looks like a Taurus. Ok then, the search continues.

I sold a car to a friend in 2001 he still has it and wants to sell it, he put about 2000 miles on it since he bought it from me, I thought that car would be a good deal since I already put extra money in it buying chrome rims. I'll have to ax her if she likes that one, it does not look like a hyundai, I think...

Too many times person A want things/buy things b/c they think person B likes them and that will in turn make person B like person A. And if thats not the geighest thing in the freaking world, I dont know what is.

I don't understand what you are saying. Are you saying that my husband is trying to buy things for me so that I will like him more?

He had negative zero assets and accused of a pretty disgusting crime (that took 2+ years and over 50K to get cleared even though he was OBVIOUSLY innocent all along) and I married him anyway.

My husband just wants to spoil me, make me feel like a queen because to him <--- that is who I am. To me, "I am just me."

need some hearts bro?

WTF does a car have to do with this? Should I buy her a table saw instead?

Nothing says, "I love you" more than a table saw. :lmao:

I dunno, the fact that you are still here even though life is pretty shitty (has been since day 1 regardless of how hard you've worked and how much you've put up with) says, "I love you" more than enough.

no no no no no, I'm not talking about either of you.

I'm talking about the Jones buying a mercedes cuz the Smiths have one.

Oh... I see.

That's why I said, "I don't understand."

We live in a VERY pretentious area so I have this thing about purposely doing what I want, giving them the old finger about it. The first time I came here I was wearing old hand-me-downs from the gym childcare workers and didn't have "the right" handbag (was a gift from one of my personal training clients, had nice scented bodywash, etc in it from Bath and Bodyworks). I was literally stared down by the other patrons of this fine dining establishment. I will NEVER forget that feeling.

When I feel like it, one of these days in the fall when it is cold enough to leather up, the Old Grump and I and a few of our friends will ride out there and demand to be sitted right in the middle of the place... and the staff will run about and kiss our leathered asses till their lips pucker.

Well when the ex-bartender made that fateful comment about you the Manager sure kissed your ass......

This is excellent!

My husband had been rocking the "homeless guy look" until I finally put my foot down and MADE HIM visit the barber. A don't mind being fringe and a bit of an upstart but the "I haven't paid taxes for years because I live under a bridge thing" just wasn't workin for me anymore. LOL

I know it wasn't your fault but that REALLY hurt my feelings. And yea, the manager kissed my ass and the bartender was dismissed because you left a lot of cash there in the past, but I don't think I'd EVER felt so degraded in my life.

^^^Character buidling, I suppose and prepared me for life here.

The barbershop is actually a museum as well filled with all sortsa barbershop antiques. The whole process took well over half an hour; wasn't your "typical" 5$ barbershop hair cut. My husband doesn't treat himself to any sort of pampering so I am now insisting that he visit this barbershop at least once a week.

I also would like to learn how to shave the Old Grump with a straight-razor. I think it's very sensual and sexy. (Yea I am twisted like that LOL - something VERY sexy to me about a man leaning back to expose his jugular to a woman).

But I have memories of my aunts shaving my grandfather out in the backyard which demonstrates a tremendous amount of trust and affection. Also takes me back to my childhood when I would tie my father's neckties every time he wore one. The Old Grump was amazed that I could tie one quite well. I like to wear his ties too. Often times I opt for an Annie Hall-esque look. I think it works very well in the business world in which I function. Sexy, yet very demure, also fashion-forward with touches of personal style.

One of the docs I work with has an Aston Martin. Lucky bastard.

meh... they look like ford tauruses to me. :whatever:

I understand they are very high end luxury cars, but they just don't "do it" for me. You see many Aston Martins in Dallas.

I am looking for something that says WOW to me, until then my little old car will do me just fine. :)

i see Zyrtec. I take Zytec too!

YOu would notice that. LOL

The old grump has HORRIBLE allergies.

We are now (at least I am) nekkid swimming and posting from the backyard. The old man is in the bedroom taking a nap after I just finished jumping his bones.

What can I say? Skinny dipping arouses me. :whatever:

Statdoc... do you REALLY THINK it matters what car ahm drivin? ;) Hell, I was hot as heck when I was driving a Ford Windstar.. got the pics to prove it. The pics of me fully clothed (sporting a turtleneck no less) next to my current ride are some of the most viewed on the old Grump's flicker page.

And me without a car just floating in our pool says... what?

The DB9 is an awesome car. That's what my colleague has. For now, I'll have to settle for my M5. ;)

Yeah, the DB9 convert is a nice car. One of our employees GF drives one. BM looked at the red convert Jag same body and with the turbo she moves pretty fast, BM uses cruise most of the time anyway going less than 40 So I think the Azure convert will have to do, she can have fun doing the Queen's wave at 35MPH

NOW you got me, honey.

Azure convertible, vaseline for my teeth, emo sunscreen with SPF 5000 and I am golden.

*note

clothing optional.

I drive a '93 suburban with torn up upholstry! Love everything about it except the gas mileage. Were I to have an unlimited source of funds I'd have a Duramax 2500 extended cab. Just not into high end luxury cars. The only "nicer" car out there that I like is the Cadillac CTS-v edition. I just like the way it looks and having 400+ ponies ain't too bad either.

Cheers,
Scotsman

You're hot in any car, but even hotter in a nice car. It's like a hot girl wearing sweat pants v. nice jeans or a dress. Even a hot girl has a hard time pulling off the sweat pants.

Clearly, you've not met *the right hot girl*.

:p

It's interesting to note one often sees in online dating ads the cliche "She goes with equal ease from t-shirt and jeans to little black dress". I am thinking that you realize the multi-faceted connotations of this phrase. A woman like this is one in a gazillion.

Bro, I am happy on my motorscooter, no car needed!

I think BM is horny today.

Now dont cock block yourself GOM!

LOL truth be told since I pointed out to him that he is his own worst enemy, he has figured it out.

The fact that my drive is marginal at best is admitttedly all in MY HEAD so one would think that a wise man would optimize the few opportunities he has.

My Grump has recently gone from multiple demerits, to gold star on his forehead for being "the best napper".

K for anyone who understands the metaphor.

(I'm lit, so humor me.)

Actually never got into the dating sites. INot much into the social networking sites. I've never visited Facebook or Twitter.

I do post on EF frequently, that's for sure (a little more than I should probably). Also participate in a law enforcement forum.

As far as cars, I have a small penis, so I need a big car. ;)

LOL But I am thinking you have heard the phrase (or some version thereof) that I am referring to?

No, but would agree it's stupid if someone wrote that. All of us can go from slouchy to dressed up.

I must humbly disagree. There are many folks who may *look ok* in a tux or "prom gown" would they know how to behave in the social situations that dictate such apparel? Or even know how to *fake it, until you make it*? Conversely how many people who know which fork to use to eat what course would be able to relate to someone whose never traveled outside of their village?

I've had a few drinks, but I do think that I am verbalizing my point of view adequately?

If not, please let me know and I will *crack open* another room temperature beer. :lmao:

little fresh air on the walk to the bus station is good for a lady

Hehehehehee

I actually want to get a treadmill (second hand, of course. No need to spend money for something new) for my office. I HATE the fact that I sit on my duff all day. Truth be told, I wish there was a way that I could take mass transit to work. When I lived in Paris I would often get off the metro/bus few stops early just to walk the extra blocks when I had the time or it wasn't too late at night. :)

Bro, I am happy on my motorscooter, no car needed!

Works great in the summer but when it's below zero and snowing I appreciate the heater and 4wd.

Plus right now the battery is dead in my FATBOY so I have to go drop a hundred bucks on a new one.

Every year a new battery is needed in this damn cold and then the heat. I started mine went to the bank and the damn thing died. SO I called BM asked to come push me, that didn't work out too well for me. So I paid a car wash hispanic fellow to push start that damn thing. I found I can't run and jump on it to start anymore. Damn I hate old age.

Well what did you expect me to do? I was wearing a skin tight, button down dress and 5 inch mules. Not to mention I was already late for my hair appointment.

Sheesh...

I seriously would not mind driving around in one of those. I'm only 5'3" so it would be kinda fitting. LOL Of course, it would HAVE TO BE RED or no deal.

In that case, get a Mini :)

I really liked the mini coopers when they first came out, but then everybody had one so the appeal wore off. And I don't like the convertible. It looks sorta like a VW bug with the top up. I dig the bugs actually, but those are fairly common as well.
