Something You Should Know...

...about Dostinex.

Prolactin increases the activity of tuberoinfundib...[Brain Res Bull. 1983] - PubMed Result

In short, some prolactin is needed for neuron development. So don't mess with cabaser or Dos unless you're absolutely sure you have elevated prolactin levels.

yo nelson...i started reading the article and i quickly felt really stupid. you care to break it down for me and some other brothers on here that don't take well to medical and technical terminology?

Weird, while you were making this I was making a thread about how to tell if you have elevated prolactin. I'm glad we both think about random topics late on saturday nights...

Once again, some guys get on the "bromide" kick . No, not Bromocriptine, but a solution to whatever problem they may be having. Some guru says the problems of tren and deca are prolactin related and recomend an anti prolactin drug and POOF! Problem solved.

But that's never really the case.

To make things worse, people start adding these compounds as a "why not?" tactic.

Bad idea.

I never really knew why men had prolactin but figured there must be a reason.

Prolactin rises after orgasm in men, which of course adds to the contentment, which in turn quells the desire. You're satisfied. No need for more. But during this time, there is increased neuron development. So, in short, sex increases brain power! Why this occurs is a fascinating feature of evolution. It could have to do with survival. After the man does what he has to do, he then has to get back to thinking about survival -- hunting, finding shelter, escaping preditors etc. So it makes sense there would be a boost at that point. This is why a guys mind is no longer on women 10 seconds after orgasm. (Hey, honey is that pork chop still in the refrigerator?)

In women, prolactin is increased after childbirth, which works to kill sex drive. (As many men who have newborn children will attest). Once again, this is nature's way of assuring you do;t keep going out to get laid and stay home and take care of the baby.

Still, high prolactin isn't good and you want to keep it down. But just like fat, cholesterol and estrogen, you need SOME to feel good and remain healthy. Using parkison's drugs is no joke. This ain't like taking a protein drink or a vitamin pill.
If you're prolactin is low/nornal you may shut it down altogether and that can be dangerous -- headache, fatigue, weakness, fainting, confusion, inability to concentrate, kidney damage and heart attack.

So the moral of the story is "Stop taking drugs because there's a fashion for doi g it on megssage boards started by self proclaimed experts. Guys like Pat Arnold, Lyle McDonald, Bill Roberts and others have great reverence among the message board geeks yet they're fools, liars and lightweights. But they sure are confident in their own greatness.

EVERY drug should be considered potentially dangerous. Because they are.

definately true:p

fortunately not true for me. my wife wanted to fuck like a rabbit again once she had our first baby last year

i understand what you mean nelson. there are a lot of self proclaimed "gurus" around. I recently had a disagreement with one of my boys about his cycle. he seemed to be all over the place following what "another friend (also his supplier)" was telling him to do because his other friend "wrote a book about anabolics". i asked him what his credentials were (medical, science etc) and he said "i told you...he wrote a book on it...and he's huge"

I stopped fighting him on it...and i strongly urged him to do his own research just keeping in mind that any one of us can write a book on what others have told them. i also strongly urged him to go have his bloodwork completely checked.

excellent dissertation Nelson. You put that together using "everyday" language and I think it will help many, many members of EF and beyond.

i have a friend like that too. it's very unfortunate that he's like that because "his guy" told him to do almost everything he does or doesn't do and he won't listen to me because i don't look like a bloated freak. a couple things he does is use the same needle on occasion, he absolutely never pulls the plunger back to make sure he isn't in a vein because "it takes to long" (had a brain fart and forgot the word for it), luckily he hasn't mixed water and oil yet but i wouldn't put it past him.

anyways thanks for the info nelson. i have a question though, i've never done any drugs that raise prolactin like tren or deca so what are signs of elevated prolactin? just not wanting/being able to have sex is the only one i can think of.

As always I try and read every one of your threads because it tends towards the "use in moderation".
Again great thread. great read!

That's why she had a sex drive. She took pills to dry up the breasts? They're anti prolactin. Prolactin goes with LACTATING.

actually...dude...we're greek. everybody we know has some sort of a remedy for everything. Being that she was a smoker we were told that she shouldn't breast feed. She did some shit that dried her up...no pills though...natural. happened immediately so she wasn't sensitive.
