i think racism!!! is largely a myth anymore

True, but getting virtually 100% of 13% is still a good tipping factor in any close election.
Same with getting 82% of 67&, which is what McCain got in Georgia.

Blacks are racist, just like white people. Haitians dont like africans, same with jamaicans so it wont take long before they start calling Obama "Uncle Tom" or even nigger.
Bottom line = nobody likes anyone darker than them.

Light skinned blacks -> dark skinned blacks
Light skinned Haitians -> dark skinned Haitians
Mexicans of Spanish descent -> Mexicans of Mestizo/Indian descent

Same in India, parts of Asia, you name it.
White people -> pretty much everyone. :)

Yes, by all means let's compare 15 electoral votes with a trend seen on a national scale.

This is true, but it is even more generalizable. Tajfel (1982) showed that any two groups of "us" and "them" will begin discriminating against each other over virtually anything. They flashed a slide of spots to a groups of boys and split them into groups based on who overestimated and underestimated the number of dots on the screen. Sure enough, they began discriminating against each other soon thereafter.

It may actually be an evolutionary mechanism, btw.

McCain won all the Southern states. If you look at each one I'm sure the numbers will be similar. I use Georgia because that's where I'm from. White men in Tennessee chose McCain 64% to 31%.

But you are comparing states that maintain 12%-18% differentials, regardless of the democrat running in the election. Take 15% out of that spread and bias isn't really that large.
