Just drove the BMW 335i.

Unless you're autocrossing, then your LOL is based on presumption, not fact. Handling, the M5 is the better machine at 10/10th... straight line performance, very little difference at all.

Actually, No. The M5 will pull much harder to 82mph in second gear than the 335i's 67mph or so. The top end power is not even close. The M5 has 200 more horsepower. 200 that's 66% more.

M5 would rape it in a drag race. Not even a contest. Though, the 335i FEELS almost as fast because of the shorter gearing. That is what I am trying to convey. It feels that way because it is a much lighter car with shorter gearing. But in reality it is not nearly as fast.

I ran my M5 in San Diego and ran it a 12.2 at 116 stock. I bet the 335 would come in around 13.5 at 105 or so.

Head to head, that means the M5 would be about 150-200 feet in front of the 335 when it crosses the line. That is a total ass raping.

Still, i was very impressed for what it is. It's a great high quality ride that is fun to drive.

the 135i is even faster with it's weight difference to the "3".

I ditched my 6 a few years ago and downgraded to a 3 series. Up for another car again, but I'm leaning toward a Lexus LS460. Maybe I'm becoming an old person.

I actually don't have time to read magazines Heavy Gear, my experience comes from driving cars as I am a car fanatic and don't like the traditional Italian Supercars but prefer the German and Japanese supercars that come at a fraction of the cost.

Dabuffguy, how old is the M5 you speak of? Definitely can't be the new model (well semi new now) if it is, comparable in some aspects to the 335.

The 335 is definitely lighter but so much more time is spent on the engineering and technology in the M5.

Oh, and nowhere is this whole thread did I say the 335i was as good as the M5. Nor did I say they were close in performance.

I said I was impressed with it and it's a fun car. That's all.

So I don't know what's up your butt with the hater posts.

Dude I didn't insult your penis size. Geez. Make me type a bunch of stuff why dont you.

You're comparing track times,I'm comparing real world driving like the kind both our cars will see during probably 99% of their life. In other words, their respective track performance is really moot except for dick waving rights.

My car was delivered with the factory backed Dinan chip that does not void the BMW warranty. With the chip my car was about 49k. That makes it's power-to-weight ratio 10.9 to your 8.4 You should know that absolute bhp numbers are completely irrelevant. I did two-way 0-60 track runs at 4.6s. Quarter mile no idea, and don't care since I never go WOT that long. And I could nearly buy two of my cars for the price of your's.

335 is to small ... to me its a female car .. go 5 series or higher

Dinan stage 2 chip on the 135i looks impressive:

"The results of Dinan’s tuning are nothing short of breathtaking, with the added boost and related recalibration producing maximum output of 384 horsepower at 5700 rpm and 421 lb-ft torque at 4300 rpm."
