UAW got their wish

Just wait its going to get worse for Ford and GM. What is bad for them is worse for the UAW!

I had to laugh at GM having to pay 30000 laid off employees full salary and benefits. Guys who had been out of work, working new jobs, and still collecting a GM salary because the Union forced the issue.

Wait until Jorge in Mexico City is putting the new Camaro's together.

The unions here in Maine are killing what's left of Central Maine Power, Bath Iron Works, and State gov't.

Artificially fixing the price of labor always bites you in the ass in the end. Its going to cost us all of our domestic auto producers and what did we get in exchange? A couple of generations of overpaid assembly line workers?

I sure hope its worth losing the tax revenues from those companies for the next couple hundred of years. Ever notice how everything trickles-down to the taxpayer's wallet eventually?

chevy and ford are going bankrupt

thanks for the memo
you are only 3 years late on that one :o

btw, ALOT of big companies are in BK and still compete
look at Armstrong (flooring, ceiling tiles)
they were in BK for over twenty yrs or close too.

The UAW union was the downfall of Detroit.. I hope all unionized companies go under and remerge union free

I think most of what you're saying is beyond obvious...

Yeah well I would have made more sense if I wasn't so stinking drunk when I wrote it!!! For reals...

Obama's platform includes support for a new law that would make secret ballot voting for unions illegal. Right now, people scared of unions will claim to support them -- especially when the high-pressure "card signing" drive hits.

Well, unions and their supporters coerce people into signing cards which just indicates they want to have an election -- and that's how their strongarm tactics work. They'll say: "Sign the card, you still get to vote however you choose." So people forced into signing cards then participate in the secret ballot and vote against the union in private. It drives unions nuts, so they want to make secret ballots illegal.

The new proposed law states that if they simply get 50% of the employees to sign cards -- a process that is ANYTHING but private, they union is automatically certified and no secret ballot voting will occur. Unions are spending $360M on this presidential election to get it passed.

Anyone doubting what I've said? Think it's some sort of "spin"? Then go here: H.R. 800 - Summary: Employee Free Choice Act of 2007 (GovTrack.us)

Or just Google: "House Resolution 800: Employee Free Choice Act of 1997". It passed the house on 3/1/2007. It stopped there because Bush pledged to veto it.

Only in America with the assistance of the media could a resolution *stopping* secret ballot elections stay out of the public eye. This is one of those things being swept under the rug until after the election.

I love your liberal use of the word, coerce. haha nice though

coerce \kō-ˈərs\
Function:
transitive verb
Inflected Form(s):
co·erced; co·erc·ing
Etymology:
Middle English cohercen, from Anglo-French *cohercer Latin coercēre, from co- + arcēre to shut up, enclose — more at ark
Date:
15th century

1 : to restrain or dominate by force <religion in the past has tried to coerce the irreligious — W. R. Inge>

2 : to compel to an act or choice <was coerced into agreeing>

3 : to achieve by force or threat <coerce compliance>

------------------------

Going to someone who doesn't want to sign a card and telling them that they are "doing you wrong" if they don't sign it because they would be denying you your "right to an election" is clearly coercion. That's union tactic 101 -- it's like telling a girl you're going to just "put the tip in" and "we can stop anytime you want." And I like that analogy, because in both cases the recipient is gonna get fucked!
