On behalf of the U.S., thank you.

In the future feel free to consider purchasing larger ticket items from us.

Check the US ebay site.

There are also some peeps from the US selling Nikes on UK ebay, I just got a pair of nike air rifts.

Yes, it is a bit bonkers that trainers are the same price in pounds as they are in dollars.

custom charges will be included with the shipping charges.

Customs charges will generally be charged directly to you in the UK (there are some exceptions where internet companies collect directly on behalf of Inland Revenue). I.e. the Post Office/Parcel force will demand this money from you before they deliver. If you have a tracking number this may show up as the PO/Parcelforce attempting to delivery your parcel at 2am of 4am in the morning! You will then receive a postcard or letter a couple of days letter with a request for payment.

Trainers will incur duty of 17% and then 17.5% VAT on top of that, so work out much more expensive than other items. The duty and VAT calculation includes the cost of the shipping. There will also be an administration charge levied - this used to be circa £6 for Royal Mail/Postal Force, but this has recently doubled for Postal Force to c £12. Admin charges are £12 to £15 for couriers like UPS or Fedex.

The tax free allowance is no more than £18, but I've had clothing items come through of up to £80 that have not been caught. As you go over £80 or $150 you are more likely to incur charges, so need to accept there is a risk.

I borrowed the following from Customs duties and VAT tariffs charged on clothing and footwear imports into the UK from non-EU countries who explain it pretty well.

SHOES BOOTS and FOOTWEAR IMPORT DUTY and VAT
1) Customs Duty. - Customs duty is again calculated by Customs on the END COST of the footwear. They add together the purchase price, + any insurance, + shipping. They then look at the material the footwear is made from. On the END COST figure they charge Customs duties of 17% for footwear made from "fabric" or plastic. If the shoes or boots are leather the duty charge is 8%
2) V.A.T. - After adding the customs duty to the total cost of the clothing, they then add V.A.T.@ 17 1/2% on the after Customs duty figure.
Examples of how this might work out: For footwear we will use as an example a pair of man-made material boots bought from Torrid - Plus Sizes for $65. You choose USPS delivery - a $35 airmail freight charge. End cost for Customs Duties purposes is $100. Customs duty will be $17 ie 17% of cost, making $117
V.A.T. is now charged by Customs on the $117 @ 17 1/2 % = $20.48.
The extra charges in total are $17 + $20.48 = $37.48, which is then changed to Pounds at the central exchange rate of the day.
Had the boots been leather, rather than man-made material, the duty would have been $8
