single most memorable/exhilirating moment of your life

it can be anything, but its a one moment, fleeting success. something you remember always. i havent had kids yet, so i hope this memory will be replaced by something he/she/they do.

mine is a sports related moment.

we were in a big hockey aaa bantam tournament in lake placid. we werent even ranked in the top 10 in our tier. with 1 minute left we were losing our first game 1 - 0 to the number 1 team in our tier. i was 2nd line and was put out. we went to a man type press hoping for a mistake. i illegally hooked my guy who coughed the puck up. from the top of the circle i ripped a backhander over the goalies catching glove. 8 seconds left on the clock. we went on to take the next 3 games and the championship. i ended with 8 goals and 5 assists in 5 games. my dad still talks about it. i still remember seeing the puck and following through on the shot. i didnt see where it went, all i saw was the ref point and the place erupted. almost 17 years ago.

Good thread, and I like what u are getting at, the hard part is that... the sports moments I remember like taking a punt back 77 yards all the way, I don't really remember the exhileration 12 years later, oh well. But, the key thing here is that you get the mind to stfu for a brief period, and time just slows down to the point of it not existing for split second. I have had plenty of those on the field, thing is I don't remember the feeling anymore. Now I feel like listening to some springsteen glory days...lol.

wow this is tough...

The two that immediate come to mind were both cross country races in high school.

In the first one, I was about 8th or 9th with 400m left to go and I finished 2nd overall and 1st for my team, beating a guy on my team who was generally a faster runner.

The 2nd is a time where I won a race outright and set a new course record (unfortunately it doesn't still stand today).

1. Holding my son for the first time and nursing him the first time.

2. I got accepted for Governor's Scholars, which basically insured full academic scholarships for the recipients, and is the top 200 or 300 students in Kentucky. Anyway, when I got home my dad had opened the letter when he saw it was Governor's Scholars writing back with a reply to my application. He was so excited that he already had it laminated and hung on the fridge. I think it was my dad's pride, not the award, that made my day, even though I was a bit miffed that he had opened and read my mail...lol.

3. When I still lived with my mom, she never took much interest in stuff I did at school, and I was a really high achiever, but she just didn't like me much at that time. Anyway, she started dating a psychologist who talked her into coming to one of my games where I was cheerleading, and I spotted her in the crowd cheering for me. It made me mess up on my routine a bit...lol. After the game they took me to get a cup of hot chocolate, and I was so happy that I cried that night. No one had taken much interest in me for years.

Lots of sports stuff that were amazing including a State Championship in Soccer (high school). But none of it compairs to seeing the birth of my son and holding him in my arms and washing his hair for the first time in the sink at the hospital. I hope everyone can experience how much you instantly love something so much
