What if a vein get punctured?

Hypothetically what would happen if someone accidently punctured a vein? What could happen? Could it be severe?

well you shouldn't be pinning around your major veins man

i hope people do not think they are supposed to pin into veins when they use steroids.

when i give blood they hit that big vein in my arm.. when they are finished they put a cotton on it and hold for a bit and it clumps up.. if you hit an artery where it is sliced like with a knife that is a different story

Google first. You'd bleed. But not for ever. Same as any injury.
