is that the only reason to carry a gun in your eyes?

People who need lethal protection are engaging in some sort of high risk behavior or another, selling drugs being one of the most gommon ones. I was just going with the odds.

People need lethal protection for many instances in life, how about protecting your loved ones and yourself from home invasions, armed assaults, some dumbass on crank ! Really man think before you type or speak, this is America and thank GOD we have the right to protect our selfs! You want to be a Shepard or you want to be sheep !!!' I'll choose freedom!

meh, I got this for 2 dollas at an online auction...

REally? How many times in your lifetime have you personally needed lethal protection?

And for the average person who doesn't have two Y-chromosomes, getting a gun isn't enough, you have to learn how to use it well enough for it not to be a liability. That's a lot of dedication if it's something you're not particularly interested in, for the vanishingly small odds that you'll ever actually need it.

my hands are lethal weapons...but my sister had to shoot a guy when she was in college. He was trying to break in, and said he was going to rape her and her roommate. He was drunk. They did nothing to provoke him other than having vaginas.

Tell me what day I will need it in the future and thats the day I will strap it on.

Did he die

no. The law at the time stated you could only shoot whatever part of the person that was IN your home. He got his hand in a small window and was reaching down to unlock a large window to come through.

My sister shot his hand (which was in the house) and it went through his hand, through the window, and into his shoulder.

He fled to the Indian res and cops couldn't touch him.

needless to say, she knows how to shoot and handle a weapon. That was with a .38 I believe. Cops told her she should have let him get in and used a .357 (what the officer was carrying) and killed him. :)

Sounds like their fault bro

I know right?

Vaginas always provoke me.

But I prefer roofies over violence.

Roofies are for lazy rapists. I prefer to work for it.

I'm republican..

Mr db really? To answer you multiple times. Yes owning a weapon is a big responsibility, you better educate yourself, learn to properly utilize said weapon ( kinda like any tool) but you know what's s bigger responsibility?! To be able to protect your loved ones, you, your hard earned shit, or maybe you would rather hide and let your loved ones fend for themselves. For real watch the fucking news, read the paper, no matter where you live, and why didn't you ask me how many times just the fact that lethal force was possible prevented the need to facilitate said use?!

Did you have to fire it?

it's true. Criminals are less likely to commit a crime against a citizen(s) they know is/are armed. They prefer unarmed victims.

"A 1985 Department of Justice survey of incarcerated felons reported that 57 percent of the felons polled agreed that "criminals are more worried about meeting an armed victim than they are about running into the police."

Researcher Gary Kleck found that 92 percent of criminal attacks are deterred when a gun is merely shown."

You do understand the term lethal right ? And yes to your question (redundant) but this isn't about me or what I've done been thru whatever! It's pertaining to your comment about more than liking he's a crim for having a gun and the ignorance behind that statement. I can tell you this I'm no crim, I live in a city with one of the lowest crime rates in the world, and as an American I proudly own and bear arms, and would not hesitate in the least to use lethal force to protect me my loved ones my hard earned and even you if the need arose!

I'm strapped 24/7...it's my right and I choose to use it. I hope that I never have to use it but its better to have one and not need it than need one and not have it IMO.

Few years ago I was taking my son to get an icecream when these 2 crack head lookin mofos are walking across the highway and stand in my lane and don't move. So I slow down and eventually have to stop. They're standing at the front of my Mercedes and work their way to the passenger side where my son was sitting yelling shit I couldn't hear exactly but at that point I said fuck this and started carrying.

I believe in protecting your family and property but to get on a forum and advertise that fact you have got a gun how is that protecting your family just makes you look like a tool blat blat blat the sound protecting my family yeah ok

.357 maybe.... .45 acp or .44 mag in the hand that was through the window and there would be no more hand. That would have been awsome.

I CCW. So does my wife.

I just got a new 12 ga for home protection, but after reading this thread, decided I might as well CCW it. Might look a little funny, but I'll just say the limp is an injury from Nam.

I have a 12ga pistol grip riot behind my night stand. A .357 in its case next to my recliner. Theres a .45 in my truck at all times. A .40 in the Mrs' truck. A few .44 mag's in the gun room. Plus we both carry on our person. Her, all the time. Me, when I go to appropriate places. Why? because we can. Not because we think we are gangsta or we think its cool. We dont hold them sideways and shoot. We have a family, we make after hours bank deposits, and because people who are big fans of meth and bath salts dont like to take no for an answer. I go into the city near me frequently in a so-so downtown environment and get pan handlers and annoying fuckers all the time trying to get change, or five dolla, or sell me some groceries that the fucker obviously just stole. People get shot and stabbed in that area sometimes. I dont intend on being one of them.
I live in the country though. I'm not paranoid by any means. Just not naive either. Getting into "it wont happen around here" mentality is dangerous.

If the situation warrants it yes
Kinda like drawing the weapon to begin with

No, he said he had to draw his gun four times in the last two years, I was asking if he had to fire it? And there was no hidden agenda or implication there, I'm genuinely interested in learning.

Thank god I live Australia is all I have to say.. having to pull a gun 4 times in two yrs wow I have lived in what has been considered a dangerous suburb and no guns get pulled ever noone even has guns.. not saying ny country is better then your just yours sounds pretty hectic.

Ah I didnt catch that, ok. I would imagine people whove had to shoot people dont like talking about it, kinda like combat vets who had to shoot people.

I've done it in both situations and lose no sleep.

In combat, it was a job. Do or die. Can't think too deeply into it or you'll just end up confused.

In the other situation, it was an attempted car jacking/robbery. I was the only carrier in a Ford Excursion in Houston. Six women, my grandmother, two aunts, my sister, mother, and girlfriend. My Brother in Law was inside a towing business trying to get his vehicle back when some wanna be thug approached the back passenger door and smashed the window and held a gun in my grandmother's face.

I told him 4 times to walk away and he rounded to the driver door and started to smash the window, so I opened the door and he put the gun in my face and said to give him the keys. I pulled the keys out of my pocket and held them out, and the idiot pulled his aim off into the ground and reached out to grab them. I use a reverse grip inside holster, so I drew and put him down before he even knew I had a gun. He didn't die, but I wouldn't feel any different if he had, I've killed people before. Sometimes you do what you have to do, including using lethal force.

Oh, and fuck Australia.

Lololololol

far from enjoyment rob

But the phaggots who shell up about it and break out in cold sweats are either lying about it or seeking attention. It is what it is

I know bro. You talk about it so nonchalantly though. A good friend of mine was home over the summer and didn't like to talk about it much. He was fresh from deployment though and still skittish. You deal with any of that?

Fuck yes. My whole first year home was bullshit. Two 13 month deployments in 3 years, both to helmund province (a complete shithole) will make anyone a little shaky.

didn't like being touched while asleep, a few bad dreams here and there, that kind of shit.

Talking about it was a little tough after my first deployment. I didn't really know how to deal with it and not look like a complete heartless asshole, or a huge pussy, or have people think I was either lying or bragging. After my second I was pretty much used to it to the point it became a job and I didn't give a fuck anymore. Turning back into a civilian is the hardest part, that transition is so fucked I can't even describe it. Anger/ depression/ frustration/ sadness/ all kinds of fucked up feelings all at once.

It's been 2 years in december and now I can talk about it openly if someone asks and really don't give a fuck what people think about it

Yeah, that sounds exactly like what my buddy dealt with. Appreciate the service bro

Thanks Robert, I miss it a lot sometimes. But I got a great job and a little family starting so I guess on to the next phase of life.
I still love to travel, and met some good buddies from the Augusta area in the Corps who I still visit occasionally. How far from there are you?

hm. my dad lived it every day for 4 years and he never liked to talk about it and had nightmares for the next 65 years until he died.

Seems like the guys that did it in WWII didn't like to talk about what they had to do at all. Guess people are different now.

It's a different war. The average Marine grunt on an Afghani deployment these days may have to engage an enemy target two or three times, and in a four year term averages only 2-3 confirmed kills.

My grandfather has flashbacks and nightmares of the Korean war to this day. He spent 24 years and retired a Lt. Col with the Corps, and has had issues ever since.

The WW's and Korea and Vietnam were WAY worse than riding around in a humvee in the desert with far superior weaponry than the enemy and calling in air support any time you get into shit

yeah, I know. I just didn't want to say that. :)

Lol won't hurt my feelings rob, those were generations of some hard ass mofos

Give a 19 year old a gun these days and tell him to march 25 miles in 2 days on foot in shitty boots that dont fit carrying supplies in the snow to go fight a bunch of armed and ready fuckers who know the territory

See what kind of look you get

Yeah, my dad was in WWII and the only thing I ever heard him say about it was that he was seasick the whole trip across the Channel in June...

My grandfather on my Hawaiian side is still alive at 98 years, and he loves talking about being a marine in the south pacific.

Greatest generation the nation ever saw.

Yeah for sure. Those old guys are probably tougher than anyone in our generation will ever be (no disrespect). My granddad fought in Korea at 18. Lied about his age to get in at 17. He still works full time at almost 80 years old after a stroke and two heart attacks.

And these sorry fuckers want the government to take care of us now

So you can say 'mate' all day? You pull that mate shit in here i will own your ass all day every day

Thats awsome. Enjoy that guy while he's still here. I wish my fucking grandfather was still around.

Indeed. He's outlived my father by 36 years as well as my uncle who died at age 18. He's as hard as they come.

On a related note, My grandmother's brother was shot down in the Northern Atolls in WWII and rescued by the natives who hid him from the Japanese. He eventually died there, but my grandfather says there is an unmarked grave of his that I must go see one of these days.
