I would agree with this too... scary to see how young girls dress. They banned kilts at my old private school cause the girls were wearing thongs with them and they couldn't keep the skirt shortening under control.

LOL....got me.

But I don't see the difference in what is being discussed in this thread, or a woman dressing sexy....(as long as they are of age). If you are speaking of 17 and younger then I agree with you....

Oh I wasn't refering to dressing sexy I meant dressing trashy and I realize that the two can cross over from time to time but most children/teen under 17 dress trashy when they think they look sexy. It's not really their fault - the images are all around them and they want to be popular.

It's up to the parents to draw the line as they are the ones that in most case pay for their clothes. This does change in high school in many cases but there is no excuse for a 1st grader dressing like an 11th avenue crack whore - unless of course that's how their mother dresses.

Which is what I'm really getting at - teach by example.

Heh.

I guess I don't have much of an argument for that one.

There are, however, different kinds of sexy. Shit, a girl can look like a goddess in a jeans and t-shirt. She doesn't have to have a billboard across her ass that says "Hottie" though.

I simply find the trend degrading. And I REALLY laugh at a lot of the girls I see wearing this shit. They really ought to keep out of that section of the store. If you're picking up what I'm laying down for you.

I agree with you on this......my wife and I will go the mall and just look at each other and shake our heads. I can't belive how parents let their girls dress. We point these kids out to my daughter and say, "see that? You should never dress like that, it's ugly" (If my daughter hears ugly then it is stuck in her head that she won't even consider it).

I'm nervous as hell raising my daughter.

If I have a son with our next one, it will be all about high fives after he gets laid for the first time. LOL

Some of it's gets trashy/annoying. It depends on the the girl's attitude and how she's wearing it.

Nothing worse than a huge tub of shit wearing a half shirt and those short shorts that would read "juicy" if their ass stopped jiggling enough to be able the make it out.

It's disgusting, disrespectful and degrading.

There's nothing cute about it and everytime I see it I think, "trash" and what's worse is when mother and daughter are dressed alike.

I don't care if people want to call me a snob, that's how I feel and how I was brought up and if I were to have children they would be raised proper and lady like regardless of how the any pop star is dressing.

I agree to some extent, but there is no accounting for bad taste. And where does one draw the line? Would a T-shirt that said "Foxy" on a 17 year old girl be considered trashy? It is just a T-shirt on the one hand. But yes, if you wear a T with some silly message printed on it, it may or may not attract negative attention or at the very least, a negative attitude from those that see it.

Obviously a T that sez "porn star" will be received differently than a T that sez "angel". But I think that everyone needs to realize that this isn't all that much different than a young boy/man wearing a T with a marajuana leaf on it. The only difference is that one has a sexual connotation.

It is JUST a T-shirt.

I think that rather than making much ado about nothing (as if the originator of the thread honestly thought that a T truly meant what was printed on it ) it would be better to take the time to point out to our children (both male and female) what it is that WE think when we view people that "look a certain way" and TRY to look past the outer cover of each person.

I recently (and am VERY EMBARRASSED to say) learned that a woman (always very congenial and pleasant to me) at my gym who I ASSUMED was "nothing more than a stripper" (albeit a nice person) WAS GETTING HER PHD IN LAW SCHOOL. She had a job at a correctional facility and specialized in the area of sex offenders. How did I come to make this judgment? BASED PURELY ON HER APPEARANCE!

She was slender with HYUGE fake boobs with long bleached blonde hair.

I almost passed out when she told me what she did for a living AND how well-traveled she was. I almost felt like saying, "What is wrong with you? You are an extremely bright articulate woman. Why on earth would you want to look like a dancer?" Then realized that what was going on was not about her at all... IT WAS ALL ABOUT ME AND MY PERCEPTION.

if they want to dress like that then fine

of course when all men then proceed to treat them like sluts, or at the very least like pieces of meat they shouldnt get suprised

its a two way street and something they can;t grasp

princess and angel is just advertising. depending on where it is written. and someone needs tocome out publicly and call britneya lying $10 whore because ultimately thats all she is

Dad that is the very last thing you want to tell your daughter. If she ever hits a rebellious stage that'll be the first thing she does.
