Natural (and not so natural) sleep inducers

Do you use them?

Melatonin (mediocre for inducing, great for maintaining sleep)
L-Tryptophan (I thought it was banned in some forms)
Valerian root (for me=worthless)
Kava Kava (which has mostly been pulled recently due to all the liver problems - which is too bad since it worked like nobody's business)


I usually take Vitamin Shoppe's "Snooze In w/Melatonin" - works ok. The best I've ever had was GNC's "Sleep Formula" which had: Kava Kava, Griffonia (L-tryptophan), and Melatonin. Currently trying "Sleep Naturally" by Holt MD labs.

Of course 5 or 6 Guinness or Yuenglings are also good for helping to get to sleep, but hurt your diet a bit. The old standby is and forever will by NyQuil. Just don't like the nightmares it gives me...
 
What about regular sleeping pills? Are they a "stay away at all cost" thing?

I have alot of trouble getting to and sleeping.
 
diphenhydramine makes me trip balls.

seriously, i take 50-100mg of that shit to get to sleep sometime, and if i stay awake a little while then try to go to sleep i hear lots of "sound effects."

i take some other stuff called doxysuccinate I think - doesn't mess with me and doesnt have the next day drowsiness effects of everything w/ diphenhydramine
 
Melatonin knocks me out and wears off quickly in the morning. That is my "sleeping pill" of choice right now.

I love how Xanax helps me sleep too - but the grogginess the next day KILLS me though.
 
I use "simply sleep", same folks that make Tylenol.
 
Valium...but be careful not to get dependant on it. 10mg will usually get me to sleep...but I only use it when I absolutely must.
