is there anythign wrong with having real food post w/o when cutting?

post w/o ive been having;

1 teaspoon l-glutamine
100mg r-ala
1 cup white rice
1 can tuna/ tinned salmon

is this ok when cutting? post people recommend the protein shake/malto combination...but is there any harm in having real food?
 
Real food is always better than a shake, at any point. Shakes are only for times when you can't have real food, not the other way around.

Protein shake and malto will sky rocket your insulin and be through you like shit through a tin horn.

I NO longer consume a high GI carb meal after my workouts. No more dextrose, malto, and high GI starches. They just raise insulin too damn much and cause way too much fat and water weight for me. Of course anabolism will be lower, but hell, I look a hell of a lot better in the long run, and I still gain muscle easily (and lose fat if cutting). This was something I learned from MS on the diet board.

Eventually, at the end, it's mainly a matter of how much calories you consume. I mean, as long as you consume a meal quickly afterwards, you will not lose muscle.

I usually get home from the gym and drink 70 grams of protein from my whey shake. Then, an hour later, i'll have a bowl of oatmeal with an added 30 grams of whey mixed in.

Looks good to me. I agree more than 100% with Steel, Wilson6 and MR BMJ. Real food is ideal, and shakes are just another form of processed food to be used moderately and with discretion as convenience dictates.

And I also avoid "spiking" my insulin at all these days. If I DO spike my insulin it's for sheer indulgence (and I take ALA). I don't kid myself that eating sugar is good for my long term LBM and health!

agreed. i wouldnt dream of having the rice without the r-ala.

can you "physically" see a difference when taking the r-ala with rice, pasta or whatever?? i take it but cant really tell anything different than when i dont take it. what should i be looking for?
 
Well, for ME, when I take r-ala with carbs, the first thing is I get this HUGE burst of energy, to the point where I just can't sit still - I have to run outside and do some sprints or something.

But the best thing is, my abs become instantly visible. So I always take it before going out to nightclubs. Energy + abs = instant score. You should SEE the women I've been bringing home!

if you take the r-ala before going out..dont u get hypoglycemic seeing as your not having carbs straight after? do you take 100mg?
 
Sorry rez. I was toooootallly BS'ing. I don't go to nightclubs (too much smoke and stinky drunk people), and I'm not interested in scoring. I have too many other things to do right now.

And, well, if I can't get my abs to come though for a contest, it would be a miracle if they'd come through for ala :( And they ain't going anywhere right now except deeper deeper deeper ... lol

And yes, I've been following the dosing guidelines that have been posted around here - 100mg for ~30g carbs. But I'm only really having that amount of carbs (or double that sometimes) around breakfast and my workouts - I eat pumpkin and broccoli and other veggies the rest of the time. And I take ala if I'm eating junk, which is thankfully finally rather seldom lately.

The main thing I noticed with ala is I don't crash if I do eat junk, but then - I'm still learning about my body, so don't ask me - I'm just trying this and that.
