Zerchers?

For the non-athletes among us is there any point in including these lifts other than for an occasional change of pace?

I did a few sets of them today to punish myself for being a little pussylegs & wussing out on deadlifts I couldnt even get 500 off the floor, no fire at all. And they're hard as hell. I felt the lift in exactly the opposite places I expected to, it wasnt at all like the front squat feeling I was expecting.

Anyway back to my question - are they worth doing for bbing purposes or should they be left to those who need seriously powerful cores?

(pussylegs also got punished with high rep trap bar deads first double bw for 20 & then straight into bw for 50, a great way to make sure he pays attention next week) :fro:

There are two ways to look at it. First for hypertrophy, an exercise where you can isolate and handle more weight would be a better choice, like say hack squats for example. But on the other hand, including zerchers, front squats and other more compound exercises will help develop your core strength and thus the amount of weight you handle in other exercises. I would cycle both types of movement in your training routine. This would be the best way to stress the bodyparts you want to grow without neglecting the bodyparts that will eventually hold you back.

I think that variation makes a workout more fun, one tends to work harder, look fwd to the workouts more, tend to set more PR's, and tend to keep training longer.

That alone might be a good reason to include some Zerchers into your workout.

i love zerchers, for the challenge they pose to me. they are HARD! i look at them for the carryover to other lifts. my deadlift, squat, stabilization for bb rows, etc. for BB purposes, i would say they are a great addition, though they dont "target" muscles, they sure do challenge alot of them.
