Your military press vs your bench

What are the numbers guys? Not so much interested in the numbers as the comparason, so please no lying. :)

My numbers are very close as my shoulders greatly overpower my chest, that's why I am making this thread to see other peoples' numbers. :)

Dumbells:

chest 110lbs. x 8-10
shoulders 90lbs. x 8-10

Flat Bench PR = 435
Seated Military PR = 315

There's nothing wrong with shoulder presses overpowering chest presses, the shoulders yield more functional strength, and down the road, strong shoulders will carry over into a strong bench, a strong bench carries over into a strong bench......

Military Press 135 x 10 x 3 sets
Bench Press PR = 370

I really do not do Military presses, my right shoulder gets very fatigued after even one set of military presses and the fatigue turns into a slight dull pain that's very irritating to me. I have to stretch the should every 2 min to get releif. It all goes away about a half hour after I go home an rest. Weird. I get the same thing with shoulder presses and lateral raises. I wonder what I ahve to do to remedy that.

I do more partials than full range of motion, but here is what I can currently do full range of motion (I only do military press to my nose though, due to a rotator cuff injury from a couple years ago)
Military press 315X3
flat bench 455X3

military press- 225x3
flat bench press-255
inlcline bench - 245 x 6 (yes my incline bench is stronger than flat..=(....)

those are my lifts now. I only flat barbell press once in awhile to change things up.

my all time personal best for flat is 285...i have long ass arms and a short chest....shitty combo for a big bench....but my shoulders grow out of control and if i really focused on lifting them heavy im sure i could get to 275 on military press.

some strong dudes on here...

my bench...305
my military...*probably* 200 1rep max

my chest is my strongest part.

jubei...aren't you 5'6"? stout numbers if you are.

I'm 5'11, 195lbs. I'm so glad I'm not 5'6 and people don't use the word stout to describe me though.

180s for dumbbell bench? Damn I fucking hate you, that's almost as much as coleman.

Damn, that's strength I wish to get in the next 10years.

pressing them is the easy part, handling them is a bitch. I want to get one of those db spotter things so you can rack the weights right behind the bench...I typically will use light bands and 100 lb dbs till for 45 sec intervals

IronLion, how long have you been lifting? And were you naturally strong, from the start? And have you broken 500 on flat bench yet?

Damn Iron Lion thats some huge db press numbers. I'm gonna stop trying to go up at about 130 or so. How much do you weigh again?

I weigh 320 lbs at about 6'3''
I have been training for about 6 years, I was not a naturally great bencher, I worked hard to get it where it is, it is still the weakest of my lifts, but since I started westside about 4 months ago it has gone up tremendously. I set a pr on flat bench at 505 raw two weeks ago.

Thise is the db thing I was talking about, I saw it the other day and now I just gotta figure out how to make one

LOL... when I first read this I was dividing them by 2 to get each DB weight... but now I see that IS the DB weight!!! :eek2:

Holy shit!!!

250 x 8 bench
205 x 8 standing military.

my best ever bench was 430
my best ever military was 295 I think

Hmmm...I really don't know on these.

Max bench was 431.5 (2 weeks ago)
Max log clean and press was 321 (last week)

I bench 405. Don't know my millitary 1 rep max but for comparison:

Bench 1 set of 6-8 335lbs
Military 1 set of 6-8 275 lbs. Hammer machine.

I have pretty strong sholders and can't imagine ever exceeding my bench weight with shoulders.
