Your latest CD purchases?

I purchased this one about a month ago and I really don't like it. What do you think?

Bleh. Not my thing. Which really pisses me off because I really enjoyed their set at Ozzfest.

I dunno. Aside from like 3 songs I liked, the rest of the album is pretty mediocre. Little too "emo-esque" for my tastes.

The band has talent but I feel they're not using it.

I used to like Atreyu because they were fun but that new album is trash.
I haven't heard any thing else by them. I thought this was their only release. What are the vocals like on the other one(s).

King Diamond - Deadly Lullabyes (live)

Shadows Fall - The War Within

They have an EP out which is great (and probably the best thing they'll ever release) and then their debut which is okay. The vocals are a lot better; a lot screamier.

I always thought the lead singer screamed like a pig. I've never heard the EP, and I don't think the screaming is quite so bad on songs I've heard off The Curse("You Eclipsed by Me", "Right Side of the Bed"). But the screaming on Suicide Notes.... just bugs the hell out of me. "Ain't Love Grand" is a perfect example of the dying pig screaming.

The vocals have never been their strong point. The singing is god awful on the new CD. Whoever decided it was a good idea to put those effects on them needs to put on a seal costume and be raped by hungry polar bears.

Plastikman "Closer"

I couldn't believe it when I saw Richie had a new album . . . Made my night! It's classic plastik on this end, too.

Little Buddha - of course... I invite you all to enter our world and check it out.

Now - I am going to join in the Alistair Crowley debate going on in one of these forums... I am new here and still trying to find my way around...

What's that Amorphis like? I almost picked that up today.

Amon Amarth - Fate of Horns
The Crown - Crowned Unholy
Entombed - Inferno
Danzig - Circle of Snakes

Old Amorphis is a good time. Black/folk metal type stuff.

BLLLLLAAAAAACK WINNNNNNNNNTERRRRRRR DAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

Heh, I almost picked up that Amon Amarth last night.

Only listened to a couple tracks from the Amorphis disc. If you're familiar with their old stuff, well, this is a complete 180. Vocals are clean, songs are catchy. Doesn't mean it isn't good though. :)

I'd recommend Elegy or Tuonela over Am Universum. Elegy, I think is the better of the two, but Tuonela is good too, just more use of clean vocals. IMO, both are way better than Am Universum.

You know, after listening to Am Universum more ... I'm finding that I'm not really impressed with it.

I hate buying CDs that I wind up disliking. Goddammit.

Not impressed with the Circle of Snakes, I think the one before it I luciferi is much better. Can't say anything about the others because the only one I heard of is Entombed and I can't get into death metal, except Six Feet Under.

Six Feet Under is going to cover Ac/Dc's Back in Black in its entirety. Let the hilarity begin...

I was thinking dude, if you weren't too satisfied with the new Atreyu you should check out Odd Project. Sorry if that was late, I was just thinking about it today.

Clutch - Blast Tyrant
Cradle of Filth - Nymphetamine

What did Stevie Wonder say when someone handed him a cheese grater?

THIS IS THE MOST VIOLENT BOOK I'VE EVER READ!

btw does anyone have any thoughts on the underminded album besides me . . . ? Flah? I'm pretty impressed, but the talk/hype on this is very little (because it doesn't fit in with the kungfu catalogue?), am I missing something? I think it's pretty hard, myself. . .

I like it. They tour with bands that don't fit their sound at all, like The Vandals, which is probably why a lot of people that would enjoy their songs don't hear them.

Its Kind of Like A Bodybag is pretty damn great.

Of course they do remind me an awful lot of The Judas Cradle (although a lot better, same basic idea though) so that may be scaring some folks off.

Odd Project? Never heard. Tell me more. I heard the Back in Black cover the other day. The funny thing is that they are serious about this cover tune stuff.

Thanks, Flah. I love underminded. Of the 3 recent buys, I put underminded first, then converge (awesome disc), then Taken a distant third. The lyrics on Taken are kinda irritating. (Wend really hates them for some reason too.) The underminded disc is truly great. I highly recommend it. I especially like Bodybag, Burn the Metropolis (*) (holy fuckin' god . . . ), and sometimes the inquistion track.

New purchase: It Dies Today "The Caitiff Choir"

which, so far, is very, very, very, very good I think . . . It really digs deeper and deeper each listen.
