I love this shit...here is an example of corporate america at work. I work for ABC Co. and we merged with XYZ, during the approvals process the word synergies was a no no. Now this AM. I get this in my email.

It sounds as if you have been there for a long time, which means you KNOW the company VERY well- THIS fact could be your salvation!

Perhaps the "fat" they trim will be 'de boss himself!

Not sure what you are hoping for, but Good Luck. I look at security more then a salary myself. I hate to hear people losing their jobs. WE were bought/merged/streamlined etc......I have seen more cuts then I ever cared too.

If you're a finance/tech type person and know SAP, take the severance package if you can then get a contract position with XYZ; those projects always go a year over (can't tell if it's a new implementation or not) and you'll make more money It's win-win (is that a no-no along with synergy ) They show a reduction of sal/opex due to reduced headcount and write off the consulting pay as a cost of acq.

The buzzphrase around my company for the past year and a half has been "economies of scale". Whenever I hear that start to pop up a lot, I know i'm going to be laying people off.

I know SAP / ABAP 4 but I don't use it as much as when I first started with working for ABC. I use mainly Oracle, DB2, VB6, SAS and MS OFFICE stuff these days.

I find a job, I find a job. I don't I don't. I'm not worrying about this lunacey in any way. As far as the economy goes it's in the toilet every where.


I have friends with dual mba who have been out of work for 18 mnths or better, I have friends with no degrees that are working like crazy...odd stuff.
