a friend asked me "is it still easy to make natural gains after you do a cycle?" i didnt know what to tell him other than hit your plateau and then if you opt for aas go for it. but now im curious, can you still make good natural gains after a cycle?

It depends. If you are already 25 lbs. over your genetic ceiling then it will be near impossible to make any substantial gains while off (or to even maintain up and above your genetic limit for that matter...)

thats dissapointing to hear....
i beleive you could still make gains but they just won't be 10 lbs a month gains. more like 2.5 lbs a month.

I made decent size gains inbetween cycles, strength gains came fine also.

I'm done with AAS for about a year so we'll see what's really up. :)

The good news is that alot of guys (even using AS) have not reached that genetic ceiling yet...(alot won't even know when they do hit it, lol).

that is true, how would one determine their genetic limit?

If your girlfriend has to take your shirt off for you since you are too bulky, you're probably over that limit...
Seriously, if you cycle on and off a few times a year and go from (for example) 200 lbs. precycle to 215 after, then back down to 200 after 6 months later, and continue this pattern for a few years and always end up back down at 200 lbs. then it might be safe to say your body can only hold 200 lbs. (of course one could argue that you could just eat 10,000 calories a day and get to 300 lbs....but we still want to look good, so that is not the most feasible thing...)

well i know i've reached my limit because after 30 plus yrs on being natural ,i looked my best in my mid thirties, now busting my ass its impossible to even come close to that without gear.

i still believe that "genetic limit" is a copout. no offense to terminator, you have made some good points.
its not about genetics, its about the desire and effort you put forth. most IFBB pros are under 6 feet tall right? if they can weigh 300 lbs at 5'9....what do you think they would say about genetic limits?

Well it certainly could be argued, but not one pro is anywhere near his genetic limit (they are all WAY over it). All the genetic limit implies is that is how far you can go NATURALLY. Todays pros are on all year round, so they are probably the worst examples to use...
But if these guys were forced to come off for 2 years (with no BB'ing drugs whatsoever) they would probably revert back to that "ceiling" again, and be nowehere near where they are at now...

then again IFBB pros use a shitload of gear...so i guess i answered my own question there :D

that sums it up right there
