Yes...I played soccer...

Yep...at 290 pounds...I played soccer with about 40 other people. I had no idea what they were saying because I was one of four Americans there...lol.

I learned a lot though...

A 290 pound man has problems keeping up with a 135 pound man.

When a 290 pound man 'bumps' a 135 pound man...he goes flying...a long way.

After a 135 pound man goes flying a long way after being 'bumped' by a 290 pound man...his footwork is never as good...ever again. He also thinks twice about scoring on a 290 pound man.

I wasn't meant to run long distances.

When they said that they were ONLY going to play 7 minute games..they really meant 25 minute games.

It isn't cool to win at soccer...you have to play another game directly after...till you get beat. I had to lose in order to get a rest.

Whew...glad I have a week to rest before I have to play again next Friday.

hahahaha i told you playin soccer with nefi was not a good idea. Though you would make a mean prop in rugby or any foward postion. You should look into it clint. You just get to cremate people for fun and its leagle, plus if you ran with the ball it would take 3 or 4 guys just to get you down. Guess car pulls dont translate into footwork skills.:bright:

soccer is cool. I learned to use my left leg to kick, since my right right side is dominant. how are your shins?

:fro:

My shins are still fairly tough from years of Martial Arts Training... My feet are so big that if I hit feet with someone...they were still so far away that our shins would never touch. Seriously...when I ran at someone making a 'move' towards the goal...the thought would seriously change their plan. My calves are sore though...I haven't ran like that in a long time..lol

I need some good indoor soccer shoes though..they would help.

Soccer is fun, and a great aerobic workout. I would rather play some football though. If I played football with you B Fold you better believe we would be playing no contact :D

Making contact with these guys/gals was the only way that I could even be 1/2 way effective.

I played for 13 years, and coached several teams.

In my opinion, it is the greatest sport in the world. My dream, is to coach again someday.

Most people don't realize how tough a sport it really is until they try playing it.

God, I miss that sport........:(

I am quite possibly the worst soccer player in America. OK I'm not that bad, but I am really not meant for anything over 200m sprints. I am good on defense though.

They kept me playing defense near the goalie most of the game. I guess that I intimidated a lot of them into making bad passes/shots so it worked for our team.

Maybe I am missing something...

What were you asking when you made reference to '264'?

If you weighed 264 after you played soccer. Sarcastic humor. If I play one game of hoops I think I lose 5 lbs of water. lol

I gotcha...lol. I weigh a lot and sweat even more. I know that when I sweat that I lose a lot of water. I remember reading somewhere that whatever weight you lose while training...you should consume back in water. Just a thought...

Did you say indoor Soccer ?

Nothing more Fun, Intense or bad for the knees for all involved..

We have an indoor soccer complex that has 3 small fields that are only about 25ft wide by maybe 50 ft long.
3 ft high walls all around like a hockey ring and netting all the way to the roof.

No out of bounds and no time to rest. Substitutions are done just like in hockey with the clock running. run on and off while the ball is in play..
There is a small semi circle in front of the goalie box that you can't go into and the goalie can't come out of..

As for shoes.. Semi Smooth bottoms if you are playing indoor in carpet.
That way you will have a bit of slip and won't stick when you stop and turn and tear something..

$39 bucks

I always loved playing defender and taking little forwards out as they came flying down the field.

Indoor, you can slam them into the walls just like in hockey..
