Nature boy.......the video game industry will crash and burn hard if nintendo and sega completely fold. Sony and Microsoft will ruin the industry, count on it. THese big companies can put inferior products on the market and bully their way to the top because they have so much funds from their other markets. They will stall the industry. I gurantee you that if Nintendo and sega both fold, sony and microsoft will just strike a deal, take their respective cuts of the market and put everything on cruise control. That's the way they work........for sony you just have to look at ps1 and ps2, both were technologically inferior to the competetion but sony's war chest was able to muscle around game companies. Microsoft does the same thing........XP is a bugged beyond beleif pile of horse shit, yet they can get away with it because who else is there???
I disagree. I've got both a PS1 and a PS2, and I think they were better than any of the competition at the time I bought them. Nintendo markets to kids, which means they don't have the titles I want. Sega's system was cool, but I didn't see titles I wanted from them either. I was a diehard Genesis fan, but didn't get into the Dreamcast.
Sega's given up on consoles altogether, and is now producing just games, which is okay by me. Nintendo's Game Cube debut in Japan, from what I've read, was pretty poorly received. Very low sales, from what I've heard.
I don't like Microsoft butting into another industry just because they can. It's a PC that you hook up to your TV. I think Sony will be around a long time to challenge Microsoft, don't know about Nintendo.
As far as XP being buggy, well, I've been running betas and RC's for several months, and now have the release version, and I think it's the most stable OS they've ever produced. All commercial software is buggy.
I'm not a Microsoft fan by any stretch, I'm just not sure I buy into your vision of the industry.
