WTF? Every time I do chins!

I get this radiating pain that starts in my upper back, around the shoulder blades and shoots all the way down my arms. It doesn't hurt while I'm doing them, a couple days after I start noticing it. I originally began having problems when I was doing a 5X5 routine. I worked up to BW+75lbs for 5 sets before I had to quit because of the pain. 6 months later I'm using BW+25 and it's starting again.

I hate pulldowns!!!

My form was total shit when I was doing 5X5. The negative was way too fast and I kind of bounced in the bottom position.

I was hoping it would go away once I quit but it appears to still be aggravated even though my form is 100% better.

I was thinking last night that it may be a rotator cuff issue since the sore area starts right where the shoulder connects to the back and when I do an arm wrestling motion it pops loud as hell. It doesn't hurt, but it feels like it should.

Guess I learned this lesson the hard way.

I suggest doing rotator work regardless as to whether this is the problem or not. I have a lot of experience in rotators and while this doesn't sound exactly like a rotator injury, it very well could be. The rotator work can't hurt. I say STRETCH and warm up. do simply cable pulls, stretch your shoulders like crazy, get blood in the muscle before you tax it. Sounds like you're doing a great job building mass, just build smart mass.

I added rotator cuff work before my shoulder workouts a couple weeks ago. Thanks for the feedback.

You've prolly heard this alread - but if you're gonna keep doing chins mebbe try different hand positions? Narrow grip, wide grip, parallel, etc. Don't bounce at the bottom.
