When is the MetRx 2004 World's Strongest Man, I know its sometime this month. Does anyone know if they'll be broadcasting it on ESPN2, or when they plan on showing it? Also, who are we going to expect to be there?
It probably won't get live coverage. Most years they won't put it on until January or so. Not sure who is going this year for the Americans, but the pro nationals to qualify for WSM were two weeks ago so we probably won't do well as there isn't enough rest time.
I have heard some of the pro's interviewed and they say about a month on average. Magnus Samuelsson says he doesn't lift anything for a month after the WSM. You just put such a beating on your body that it takes some time to feel right again. Another guy I know did a strongman contest then two weeks later did USAPL worlds and said he knew that strongman show had hurt his performance.
I know my shoulders are still wrecked from last sat and I haven't even attempted to press anything yet.
Nationals have not taken place yet...Nationals will be after the Worlds this year as it no longer determines who goes to Worlds. Worlds is now back to being a TV show where they INVITE who they want to be at the contest.
Steve Kirit, two time US champion and winner of every major show in the US, will be representing the US this year. There are 12 total competitors.
They have also announced that 2 competitors will be drug tested. They drew straws...Mariuz P and Svend Karlsen are to be tested.
It is NEVER live...normally shown 4-6 months after the contest.
