wrestling...

my son was accepted onto the wrestling team at school (he's 13 and big for his age). I'm sooooooo excited- he hasn't been into any sports for a few years and i wanted him to get into football but he was struggling in school last year so his guidance councelor said it wasn't a great idea. now that his grades are up the coach wants him on the team.
I think he'll be really good at it. maybe i'll set up some weights in the basement and see if he wants to start lifting.
Ima proud. :)

I am.
my son isn't a great student like my daughter is, but he's really a good kid and well liked (by the girls too), tall and nice looking and he's helpful. its wierd to look up to him now (he's taller than me) and start thinking about college and stuff.

Wrestlers by far.

really? you think so? seems like highschool and college football players are revered, and considered much stronger, bigger, tougher.
i thought wrestlers didn't necessarily have to be big- my cousin might get a college scholarship for wrestling and he's the skinniest kid i've ever seen, he's just agile and fast.

I didn't wrestle, but I played football. And I'll agree with you. Some wrestlers had to endure much tougher practices and techniques to keep their weight down. Some of that shit I don't think is healthy for kids that age to be doing.

Great! Make sure he eats properly if he needs to get to a lower weight. Don't let him starve himself.

Being well liked and good looking is more important than good grades in the real world. He sounds like a good kid.

Of course, he is taller than you stubby ;)

lol... i'm not short! (am i?)
i'm like... 5'6" i think.
and, i think sometimes you're right about looks/personality. his teachers like him, he's popular, and he has a gorgeous little girlfriend and even HER FATHER likes my son. his grades suck though. :worried:

Yup. And a lot of wrestlers make good football players, not necissarily the same vice versa.

my son doesn't lift weights yet but he'd like to so i'll set up a bench and work with him.
he's fairly solid but only about 140lbs at somewhere around 5'6" or 7". he wears a size 13EEEE shoe though. :worried:

Cool that would help him. Just by practicing he'll develop a lot of functional strength. Plus I'm sure they'll encourage him to strength train and most likely put him on some program that will utilize the gym at his school. Keep in mind they don't really want him to get huge especially at his height. They want him to be as strong as possible yet be as light as possible.

How old is he?

he can eat non stop. last night i made him two hamburgers and an hour later he ate a bowl of icecream and an hour after that he was eating 2 apples (he eats a lot of fruit), and was hungry before he went to bed so he had some chicken.
i already can barely find him shoes.

Yeah they suck... Not even Div. 1 for HS... Your son should have no problem becoming a starter on the team.

I was going to wrestle in high school once. Damn school did everything they could to hold me back. They had too many fucking rules and shit that I think they made up on the spot just to fuck with me.

"No, you can't say you are from Parts Unknown".

"No, you can't do that sleeperhold or whatever it is called."

"No, there are no ringropes and no jumping off anything."

"No you can't go into the match with a roll of quarters hidden in your tights".

"No, you can wear tights with the picture of your opponents girlfriend airbrushed on them".

"No, you can't yell 'Who's Yo Daddy' while you have them in the school boy pin".

Buncha ass clowns. No wonder they never sold out the gymnasium.

Yeah. Had Jake the Snakes wife face on the back. Everytime he clenched his butt cheeks, her lips would pucker up.
