After being on vacation for two weeks, I was supposed to be back in to work yesterday but I called in and left a message for my boss telling him that I was exhausted and needed more time to adjsut and prepare myself for normal, every day life. I guess he didn't like that excuse too much, coupled with the fact that they probably didn't notice any extra work load while I was gone, and one of the other dudes in my department also called in sick.

I guess I should really pick it up now.

Don't sweat in broham. One more day is not going to kill them.
:Chef: :tuc:

If they didn't need you for 2 weeks, what do they need you for now ?

this is what Mr Bossy britches is thinking..

a) 2 weeks off of work?! I would have to work 24 hour days for a month just to catch up

b) unless you are very friendly with your boss, that excuse sucked cak. you are basically saying, "Hey, I am a drunken drug addict!"

yep, but in reality, and what I told him this morning, is that I really would not have been able to be productive yesterday.

Man, I am really having a hard time trying to get back to were I was before I left and pick up the jobs I left unfinished.

that catching up time should be pre planned and included in your time off.

I am taking vacation to NY in August and don't go back to work the day after I fly back for that exact reason.

I take 4 weeks paid vacations every year since 4 yeasr ago... actually in 2002, I took 52 working days off (trailing from 2001)...

my 4 weeks are coming in December, in Summer we're planning a small 5 days getaway

ain't life grand

sorerotatorcuff, what do you do?
Engineering Support Lead

I am incharge of the engineering support department. We do things like build prototypes, after an engineer designs them, and make changes to the design needed for it to be production grade. Also, test things and all sorts of other crap. Engineering support also encompases the CAD/Modeling department, so I also do a lot of that although I have only learned since being promoted to this position. This is my escape goat for being so unproductive, "since I am jsut learnign how this, it is taking me a long itme to do even simple jobs." I might not have too long left with that excuse. Either way, while on vacation i thought about my slackerness and attitude and decided that I needed to stop wasting time on such unproductive shit like the internet and EF. Will I really stop? I guess we'll find out, the fact that I am here now doesn't speak too highly though.

Part of the reason why my boss was so mad is because he says that I am now in a leadership role and shouldn't be doing things like that anymore. It's understandable. When my trip was origianlly palnned, I had planned to fly back in on Saturday, so I could recoop on Sunday and be ready to come back to work on Monday. Unfortunately, I asked for the time off before booking flights, etc... so this is howit worked out. I had to use my last vacation day, that I wanted to leave for emergency reasons, for Monday.

c'est la vie
