I think it's pretty clear that Anal was making a joke based on perceived insecurities about what your girl might see at a strip show -- some exposed penises. And he teased you about your fondness for He-Man in the particular context.

I think that's quite different from dismissing someone on the basis of his sexual identity and then making him a rep for an entire group. You could say, "You wonder why most striaght men don't like you." That's different from judging an entire group on the basis of his behavior.

Would you have said to someone else: "And you're stilll puzzled as to why most white guys don't like niggers? You don't have to act like an illogical dickhead to advertise the fact that you have a different way of relating. .... "

There's a difference between making a joke (like what big4life did) and going on for 20 minutes blatantly insulting someone for no reason (like what Assplorer did). Of course, it did not bother me whatsoever because there are far more important things in life to worry about than the childish, unprovoked insults of another, but obviously I'm not going to sit there like a little punk and smile while someone is talking shit. He wasn't making jokes - he was being a dick.

When you ask a typically gayhating straight guy just why he has those opinions, it's likely that he'll cite the not-so-typical behavior like that exhibited by AA in this thread. I've never seen you, RyanH, or other gays/bis/whatever acting like that for no reason. If anything, you should be as displeased with his behavior for painting a sloppy picture of the gay lifestyle as I would be with some mindless gay-hating racist for being a moron and making straight white guys look bad with his illogical hatespeech.

I'm not distrurbed by Anal's comments from a "gay perspective" because nobody appointed him a representative of homosexuals and he has no obligation to paint "us" in any particular light.

The idea that general society's impressions of a minority are dependent on people being good queers or good black folks is itself prejudicial. I don't assume all straight people are fag bashers on the basis of those who are. Nor do I assume all straight men's sexual behavior is the same as a philandering asshole's.

Of course, this is an issue within gay life itself. Many people want to sanitize gay pride parades of drag queens and leather boys in order to present a more palatable picture. The fact is that doing so has no effect. You just end up with Jerry Falwell crashing gay bars with a hidden camera and sending the tape to people who give him donations. (HIs best fundraiser ever: gay porn for Christians.) The same argument occurred during the Civil Rights era -- that all black people should be shining examples.

I've just been faced with an interesting scenario.

My girl and I have been together for 7 months. She turned 21 yesterday. Her friends (or, should I rephrase, her bitch friend whom I despise greatly and WISH I could show her some hurtin') were going to surprise her by taking her to a male strip club. My girl managed to get the information out of them. She told me that they were going to take her to a male strip club tonight. I told her absolutely not. After further insisting, I told her that I would be angry beyond all precedent if she did go.

Ask yourself this.... do you/would you go to a strip club??? If you answer yes, then you're a hypocrite... If you don't EVER go to strip clubs/bars yourself, then you can ASK her not to go.... But even then, I think she can control herself, if you trust her, you have nothing to worry about.....
