while kicking his ass will feel great, is it worth the year of lawyers court and never getting your $$ back or your Gear.
I say give him the "you have till this time or else speach" youll either never see him after that or you'll have $$ or gear in hand.
Tell him to give you are going to take some collateral. Follow his ass to his car and take his CD player or some shit like that and tell him he will get it when you get your shit.
Trust me on this, i was a bouncer and still had to go to court for beating up a dumb ass, and it was my Job. Not worth the time for 60 bones.

Hmm... I think the time limit thing is a good idea. Then buy a machete, call it the "insurance policy" and show him why it is a good idea to follow through. 
I still say go to his house act freindly until your inside and then beat the fuck out of him. And to all the people that say your going to get in trouble for it yeah right I bet he's going to go to the cops about anything drug related. Also for insurance if your worried about him going to the police just tell him you kill him or his family if he even thinks about it.

a scammer is a scammer 1$ to 1000$,doesnt matter..he must think your a sucker or a punk.tell him you might have to act if your cash or gear is not given to you,make sure you look him dead in the eyes when you tell him..make sure you dont do anything at his house though.

He shitted on you and has no respect for you. You can catch him in the club or have a friend catch him anywhere to break him off. Break his window in the night and fled the scene. Personally I'd have a friend bring the heat to him. The choice is yours, whatever you do, be safe about it.
