Condom,or not...the issue is irelevant,as far as hiv transmision is concerned...

HiV positive individuals are already immuned to the HIV virus,as indicated by the presense of "positive' antibodies,in their blood;

Thus,the level of active HIV in their body is almost zero,or non existant..i.e they have no active virus to transmit(statistically speaking it would take a 1000 sexual encounters to have a successful transmision,if at all..);
Ask any impartial scientist,the HIV virus is nowhere to be found in HIV positive individuals,or AIDS patients.

Condoms,should still be used to prevent transmission of other sexually transmitted diseases

get real. then why do more & more people get aids? like someone else previously said, you're dangerous.

and to answer the poll. no way..

No...I have a source by the Red Cross (which I confirmed by calling the CDC to double-check the facts on this) that found that natrurally-occuring pores in LATEX condoms were 50-450 times lareger than the size of the HIV virus. As one Red Cross source said, "That's comparable to passing a ping pong ball through a basketball hoop."

I asked about nonoxynol-9, and was told that it works IF it contacts the HIV. But friction, moisture, or breakage could all fail that, too.

thats natural latex condoms dude :)

synthetic latex is inpermeable to particulates that are HIV size and smaller

given the efficacy is about 98-100% at preventing HIV if there were that many holes in a manufactured latex condom there wouldnt be that much risk

check www.thebody.com, they reference from the CDC a lot, great site too

things that create pores in synthetic latex (such as prolonged heat, oil etc) but it is an EXCELLENT barrier to HIV provided it is used correctly and remains intact

even when the condom breaks the HIV may still not cause infection, the break may not occur on the mucuous membranes of the penis (the head of penis) and that reduced chances of HIVtransmisson a lot. thats from the CDC

in serodiscordant couples (1 with HIV one without) using condoms correctly there was no transmissio of HIV with an intact condom

noxy-nol-9 is used as a water based lubricant on some brands of condom so as coating the condom can help further prevent HIV and other bacteria

natural condoms suck ass. :)

If it was my wife, I would do it in a heartbeat. My wife is the most important person in my life and I don't want to be without her. I would willingly subject myself to whatever and then overcome it. There is a cure out there right now. All we have to do is know how to obtain it. Nothing can ever bring us down if we don't want it to. Is Magic Johnson still alive????? That must tell us something. Any input would be appreciated!

Well as I've already pointed out, the chances of a straight person getting AIDS are slim. However, if the person is known to be HIV+ then no way.

Really? This is news to me. Where did you get this idea? In this country heterosexuals are the largest growing group of HIV sufferers, whereas infection rates among homosexual men are declining rapidly.

Straight people regularly engage in unprotected sex. Men can easily get HIV from a woman and vice versa. I think you'd better rethink your ideas in this area.

I would think you're statistically less at risk having protected sex with someone who's HIV+ than you would be having unprotected sex with someone you pick up at a bar.

In fact I would imagine that the chances of contracting HIV from someone who is positive through protected sex are a lot lower than from casual unprotected sex (the norm for most straights).

As a gay man it always interests me how heterosexuals need to stick their dick into something. Sex doesn't have to involve intercourse. So many heteros think that only intercourse = sex, just ask Bill Clinton. Most lesbians I know must still be virgins, hehe. In fact oral sex and mutual masturbation can be better. Stick to these practices if you are with someone who is HIV+

I answered "yes" to the survey.

This is accuate. Statistically, the chance of contracting HIV from someone who is a known positive even in unprotected sex are much lower than contracting it from someone of unknown status. That's because the disease is most contagious in someone who is seroconverting, when the viral load in the sperm is highest.

This ignorance burns me up!

No wonder on an AIDS and bodybuilding board no one communicates to me, you must think you can catch HIV through the wires in your computer. Safer sex happens folks! Because of reactions such as yours, don't you think that it lowers the amount of HIV+ people who are honest about their infection (or as up front about it?) Guess what? If you are a regularly sexually active person with different partners you have probably ALREADY had sex with someone who is HIV+. Think about that. Get tested, get treated, get educated. Alan.:mad:

I am having sex with a person who is HIV positive, I am HIV negative because we practiced safe sex. If you use a condom and are carefull about it you can have a excellent sex life. Believe me ours is great.:D
