i have a job that i am being considered for.. its an hour away and only pays 25k per year.. has good benefits though, and tuition reimbursement... which means i could go back to school and get my teaching certificate and become something... no early morning hours so thats good...

long drive.. i guess i could move if i liked it...

HOW FAR DO YOU DRIVE NOW???

Hey I can't appear to be mooching off her. This is not her son that I am raising.

Besides, the job gives me an exuse to NOT join her company.

I gave up a 10min commute for a 3hour (each way) one for a job to almost double my salary.
Gotta make sacrafices sometimes

Can take anywhere from 10-25 minutes depending on traffic, and now they're doing construction on I-95 North and South bound so traffic is even worse.

A rough commute for me is when 3 out of 6 stoplights are red! I can be home in 10 minutes during the after-work rush. I absolutely love it!

it would have to pay a shitload for me to deal with the dumbass drivers around here any moreso than I normally do.
at 10pm at night I can get home in about 10mins since there is hardly any traffic.
In rush hour it can take me an hour.

I love driving my car, but I hate dipshits in their SUVs and Mercedes swerving around while talking on their cellphones.

it is a good thing I don't own a gun or I'd be cleaning out the gene pool on our highways.

In London - 1 hour is considered a short commute.... I commute 1 hour... used to be 2.. (EACH WAY)... everyone wants to live in London - but only the rich can afford to...

Rents in Central London start at ÂŁ250 and go up to ÂŁ1000 for a very small flat or room.... PER WEEK!!!! Thats about $320 to $1400 per week...

You americans are lucky.....

we are lucky aren't we. :)
I stayed at a flat on I think it was Kensington St.
I remember thinking it was like the chick in austin powers.
I don't know if it was nice or not - the metro stop seemed shady, but around our place were lots of nice cars like Lotus, BMW, Bently, etc.

IslandGirl's family has friends that were nice enough to let us stay there. it was pretty big too.

I'm not saying which one of us was a dumbass and put liquid dish soap like what you'd use in the sink... into the dishwasher and foam went everywhere.
as a hint though, much like the shaggy song, it wasn't me.
although I did starch a comforter there in my own special way ;)

I've driven over an hour one way for jobs before. It's worse going home when your brain is half way fried from the daily bullshit you've encountered while on the clock and you start to dose off behind the wheel. :redhot:

Happy Scrappy

Yo Happy Scrappy...........

I work in Kensington - At Imperial College.............. near the museums....

I hope you had an ok time in London........:)

Double that and I might consider that length of drive. Come on now with gas going up. I think you may want to reconsider it before you jump in there.

1 hour to 1 1/2 hours

Except when the fucking assholes get into some wreck and crash.

Some of the Bay area people know what I speak of.

The Dublin interchange, 580, 680 south into San Jose. I have never seen so many CRAZY drivers in all my life. And there are a lot of deaths.

I guess it rids the gene pool of the dumber ones

well, a major plus would be the fact that cost of living is much better where the job is, if i decided to move... gas is cheaper too... even though i've been getting 1.31 gas for 2 weeks now!!!! average is 1.60 around here..

but the biggest plus is... its at a gym, so i wouldnt be working out anywhere but there during the week!!! thats one way i am rationalizing it... since i work out for 1.5 hours per day, and i drive 20 minutes to and from my gym... i'm actually SAVING 10 minutes in free day time... i guess.

Ugh - I hate driving. The tuition reimbursement sounds great though. You could think of it as a temporary sacrifice for your future?
