Would this be overtraining, or would this be an ok amount of time for the muscles to rest?

While there is no definite answer, for me that would be overtraining. I do much more volume than most people too. Are you on AS?

Well I think it would really depend on how many sets, reps and excersises you're doing. Also the choice of excersise.
will you be doing 3 sets of lef extensions(legs) followed by 3 sets of lateral raises (shoulders) OR 5 sets of squats, 5 sets leg press, 5 Hack squats, extensions and leg curls followed by miltary press, behind the neck press, lateral raises...

Thanks, madcalf5.0

I do chest, legs and back three times a week and don't expect to be overtraining for another couple of weeks yet.

You can run pretty much any split or frequency without overtraining for a short amount of time and some programs deliberately overtrain you and then allow you to back off to recover before doing it again in waves.

As a split it looks good but whether it leads to overtraining depends on how hard you push yourself and how you manage your light and heavy days. You could even play with light and heavy weeks to keep it rolling along for quite a while.
