Of course not. I can't see how anybody wouldn't assume that you wanted to keep this low. WTF?!

" Even if the doc assumed those who were present knew about it it doesn't mean they have the right to openly discuss it. Well I have a lawyer right now and will give him a call first thing in the morning.

Sweet. I don't want to have any expectations, but I'm pretty fired up. As a lawyer who has represented several plaintiffs, I would love to have those douchebags on the stand or in a deposition trying to explain why it was reasonable and appropriate for them to openly discuss your use of steriods in the presence of your mother.

The only problem is that you wouldn't have 12 juicers on the jury if it ever went that far (as I recall about 1% of lawsuits that are filed go to trial   kaioken:

Please keep me updated by posting on here. I really want to know how this plays out.

DocTodd: I appreciate your last post. Good karma for you. Where my Dad works, it is the heart surgeons that are trouble. The hospital really caters to them because their cases generate a lot of revenue. One guy routinely shows up very late for surgery, and apparently expects everybody else involved to wait patiently and kiss his ass. My dad gives him a good cussing about once a month, calling him, inter alia, a "motherfucker". ;)

How about filing a complaint with the AMA?

If a little payback is what your after I would try the AMA and the hospital administrator.

As far as suing goes, it seems to me that he could plead ignorance with respect to your parents knowledge of your medical record. After all, your mom knew you were going to have a surgical procedure done so who is to say that she didn't already know about AAS use.....intended to be from a Docs point of view in court. I know that's reaching a bit, but depending on Jury selection I'd say several of them are looking for an excuse to rule against you....a Schedule 3 drug user, who broke the law to obtain AAS in the first place....see my point. They just aren't going to be very sympathetic. The AMA will likely be less judgemental and frown upon the lack of professionalism.

Well I called my attorney and will go in and talk to him next wednesday. I'll probably get referred but at least I'm taking some kind of action. Even If I don't have a case I'm definitely going to file a complaint with the surgery center and talk to whoever handles these issues. I actually talked to my mom about it and she said she couldn't believe how the doc came right out and said that, especially the tone and manner in which he asked it. She was pretty embarrased about the whole situation. Once again I appreciate your responses and support.

ok bro....i really dont think it is worth it to try to seek compensation by going to an attorney. You are possibly opening up a big can of worms which may backfire on you. Like was said...you are illegally using a schedule 3 AAS. Best case scenario you are just wasting your time and possibly money. I think filing a complaint or a few complaints against the anesthesia doc who opened his mouth is more than enough, plus you stay in the clear.

Good luck either way.

I would definately file a complaint. DocTodd is probably right about $$$. You haven't lost any actual money as a result of this. Your shame, embarrassment, etc. would be compensable, but I doubt that you would be a very sympathetic plaintiff. But who knows...

I understand what you guys are saying and agree. I'm not out for a load of money just to give that guy a smack across the face similar to what he gave me, and to (hopefully) keep it from happening to someone else. Just the way he said it was unbelievable, like he was patronizing me and somewhat berating me for my decision. I guess we'll see what happens. BTW the place where I had my surgery called a few days after to ask questions regarding the service I received. Looking back I should've brought it up then but didn't know quite what to say. Oh well, like Ryker said- live and learn. Thanks guys, I'll post updates under this thread.

Call them back and update your evaluation. Hospitals have quality control to take care of things like this. Hospital administrators lose sleep over PR stuff like this and will scream at that anesthesia doc.

Looking back, the best thing you could have done was yell at him right then and there saying something like "IS THIS WHAT YOU CALL PATIENT CONFIDENTIALY AND BEDSIDE MANNER?!?!?!"....in front of the whole OR/preop staging staff. His ego being bruised would have been more than enough compensation for you and your cause.

They dont need to know about your anabolic use. I wouldnt tell them shit b/c insurance companies find out about stuff like that. They give you less shit if you were addicted to street drugs. Its a fucking joke.
Any doc that knows about your AAS use should be one that you are paying CASH to and not thru your insurance.

Considering the USA as a society is quite big on individual rights much of what I hear on here surprises me.

In my country an employer can't legally make anyone take a blood test or see their medical files. Health insurers can't even see your medical records. When you get a policy you fill in a questionnaire. It's an honesty system - it is best to be honest so that you aren't in violation of your policy if you become ill due to something you didn't declare. There are strict guidelines about what they can and can't ask you on the questionnaire as well.

All of your private details are protected under the New Zealand Privacy Act. I thought you would have something similar over there.

Hey bro I hope you tell this Doc what you feel like doing and make a complaint. this is a good learning experience for all of us. You are all so right most of the medical field is not educated on AS. I had a similair experience where I asked a New female Doc what she thought about AS and she said she doent support using them. She kept asking me where you could get them. I asked her for a script for Nolva and Clomid and I know she didnt know what it was. She said No and wrote in my file what a bitch. Im going to have a look at what was written!!! Im not complaining though I didnt say I used them but she tried to lead me. I dont understand this type of behavior. Like shes curing fucking Cancer !! Your in a tuff place right now so Do what you think is necessary!
