I take my EFAs at different times of the day. But I do NOT take it in a pre and post workout shake. But my wife has problems taking her EFAs throughout the day. She says that they taste awful.

So she was wondering if she can take it in her pre and post workout shakes? I personally wouldn't want that because I fear that the fat will slow down the absorption of the protein and carbs my body needs for pre and post workouts.

What do you bros think about her doing this? Oh btw....she trains first thing in the morning. 5am! So her first meal is a pre workout shake.

I avoid adding fats to my pre & post workout meals. Does she have a bedtime shake? She can add it to that. Or have a mid-afternoon shake.

NO! There are no shakes throughout the day.

Pre-workout, it would be fine...the EFA's would actually be an excellent source of sustained energy for her workout. Would definitely avoid the fats post-workout though, for the reasons you've stated.

Here is the deal though. She wakes up at 4:30am and needs to be at the gym by 5:15am. Won't the EFA slow down the need for her body to use the carbs for energy? Remember....this is not MCT fats.

I'd stay away from the workout if I could. Is there any way to compliment something else throughout the day with the Oil? I guess compliment is a bad word in this case, but you get the idea. ;)

No there isnt. That is what sucks!

I assume she's trying to lean out? Overall daily calorie expenditure will be the primary determinant of whether she loses weight - be it from muscle or fat - so she ought to pay careful attention to the preservation of exisitng muscle mass (as opposed to simply being concerned with dropping bodyfat). Okay that's off topic...

In any event, adding some healthy fats to her pre-workout meal won't minimize the amount of glycogen she burns (re: your inquiry regarding fat intake and the availability of carbs for energy).

Honestly, if it's within her daily calorie alottment I would give it a go....see how the workout feels, etc., and gauge progress over a few weeks.

Sounds good. So let me get this straight. Only in the pre workout shake right? But certainly NOT for post?

So I was reading this weekend in another thread where somebody said that fiber, lactose, fructose, and fat were bad PWO. So basically water, whey powder, dextrose, and oats (or another source of maltodextrie? Is there one?). Is there ANYTHING else I could add to the shake, cause I just had one & that shit was nasty. Less than tasty food rarely bothers me. plain tuna, funky wierd creatine mix, plain egg whites are all cool, in fact if I'm hungry I really don't notice. But that shit (granted I have vanilla isopure which is prolly the worst flavor to mix with water) is awful. I can get it down, but isn't there anything I could put in there to help out? maybe a powder that goes with water better?

Also, how long should I wait before my blood sugar goes back to a normal state and I can 'safely' eat sugars and fats again?
