Elite members, this is an experience I've had recently which I feel you can all benefit from hearing about. Whether you take the time to read it is completely up to you, however, I ask that you trust a fellow bro and do consider what I'm about to tell you. If I can help just one of you to avoid what I've just went through then it will have been worth it.
About one week after Christmas, I developed an upper respiratory infection that would not respond to anti-biotics. It was getting serious because I started having trouble breathing. I went through 6 courses of 5 different anti-biotics. As a last resort, one of my doc's prescribed something called Levaquin. This is a "last-course" med used to treat certain bacterial infections that are not responding to anything else. It is in the family quinolones which includes the drug Cipro. When I started the medicine, I was having severe psychological stress. By that I mean I just started feeling severly depressed, having halucinations and tremendous anxiety. I also began to experience pain in my achilles tendons, tendons in my elbows ( the same tendons I just had 3 months of Prolotherapy work done on ) and also my knees and shoulders. But I was sick as a dog so these things to me seemed like they were just par for the course. But after 13 days on the drug, my doctor was apparently too concerned about my resting hr which was at 120 bpm and took me off of the drug. He was unfortunately not keeping me abreast of my rapid heart rate. I knew it was rapid but I had no reason to check it because he didn't say to look for or expect it, so I never did. He just kept it to himself and finally decided it was too risky so stopped it. It was apparently that high the entire time I was on the drug. I know, I'm stupid for not checking it, but believe me when you're that sick, you tend to rely more on other people to do that sort of thing for you. It's now 3 days since I've taken my last dose of the med and I am a mess. My resting hr is still >100, my legs are a mess as I have pain in damn near all of my joints and tendons. I have such severe psychological stress that I can't stop my mind from becomming fixated on extremely negative things. I did some research on the med during the past few days and it turns out that there are entire web sites devoted to the issue of this medication being a danger to humans. There are literally thousands of people complaining of the exact things I am complaining about. Many of these people have died as a result. I personally emailed a woman to check on the status of her 18 yr old son who had taken the drug and had a bad reaction to it and she wrote me back and told me he had died. I nearly fell off my chair. I also saw many other posts on a forum of people, mostly wives, who lost their loved ones as a result of this drug. Unfortunately, many people are saying that a lot of these effects are permanent. I also read some recently published technical papers that it changes the structure of the fibers in tendons and can cause spontaneous tendon rupture with little or no strain and at any time after taking the drug. Doctors are saying it's all in people's heads, these drugs just don't do that. That's of course BS. There are currently law suits being established that may, or may not work to get this stuff off the market. In the mean time, if you can possibly remember, here is the list of the drugs. The one that I had was Leviquin.
ofloxacin(Floxin®), levofloxacin(Levaquin®, Tavanic®), ciprofloxacin(Cipro®, Baycip®, Cetraxal®, Ciflox®, Cifran®, Ciplox®, Cyprobay®, Quintor®), norfloxacin(Noroxin®, Amicrobin®, Anquin®, Baccidal®, Barazan®, Biofloxin®, Floxenor®, Fulgram®, Janacin®, Lexinor®, Norofin®, Norxacin®, Orixacin®, Oroflox®, Urinox®, Zoroxin®), enoxacin(Penetrex®), lomefloxacin(Maxaquin®), grepafloxacin(Raxar®), trovafloxacin(Trovan®), sparfloxacin(Zagam®), temafloxacin(Omniflox®), moxifloxacin(Avelox®), gatifloxacin(Tequin®), gemifloxacin
And here is a web site that can provide useful information if you are interested.

What I'm going to do to help myself is to take massive amounts of supplements, especially the minerals magnesium, calcium and potassium as it has been speculated that this medicine strips these out of your body. I will also go on HGH. The reason for the HGH is that I thought it might help to regerate my tendon tissues.
As I said, if this helps just one of you, it will have been worth posting it. I hope it does help someone.
