As someone mentioned, those were pictures from the first half of the 20th century. That guy had one of the best bodies back in those days.

Even you have to admit his advertising campaign could have come across a little better than that...
"I turned myself....into the World's Most Perfectly Developed Man" That comes off as a bit arrogant imo...(even if he does look good)

well from the ad and site it acts like hes talking about these days

The advertising is shite and predatory. I am not defending that. I am talking about the shots at his physique.
C3bodybuilding said:Many people have said his ad campaign was one of the most brilliant of all time. For it to still be talked about today, he must have done something right. I don't see any of us coming up with anything better.
And as 2thick put, in his time Charles Atlas had an incredible build. He was one of the first to use bodybuilding to build an impressive looking body, not just strength.
Lately I see a lot of people talking smack on some old timers. Threads like this, and ones making fun of Arnold for not being in shape anymore, Frank Zane being thin in his prime, etc. Funny thing is, I see a lot of people post their pics, and I see them post up their cycles that are grams of this and that, and they look like fat tubs of lard, or thin with hardly any muscle. Who are these people to make fun of LEGENDS?!
C3bodybuilding said:stop licking ass because a mod has 21K posts and get real.
Read what I said, and not everyone has to know who everyone is.
I saw the ad tonight in the tabloid looked up the site and thats the end.>>>
Hey newbie I was making a point, and not licking ass, maybe thats a hobby of yours, but not mine. You make nothing but the same stupid threads that are nothing but a waste of bandwidth over and over again.
mlong23 said:Anyone ever heard of the wrestler I think was called Atlas. He wrestled in like the 70's or 80's, he would put Steiner and Brock to shame. This guy was huge.

He's got a pretty nasty case of gyno there though...![]()
mlong23 said:That picture does him no justice from what I saw on TV one time. It was about wrestlers that had made it, but were now either trying to still wrestle or involved in some manner. It was I believe a black and white shot of him, and he was huge and ripped.
genarr3 said:Damn, guys are taking shots at Charles Atlas. If you took the time to do alittle reading you would have realized that this was back in the early 20th century.
Yes, before steroids. Imagine that, building muscle without gear.
So by that days standards his physique was likely unmatched. People didn't weight train back then. There was no Golds Gym, no MuscleTech, no nothing. He was one of the founding fathers of modern bbing.
The funniest part about it is I bet he has a better build then some of the people on this thread taking shots at him.
You guys need to show alittle respect.

I don't know any others quite as old as he. When you say "old timers" how far back are you going?Tweakle said:not to take anything away from him, and yes he looks better than the average messageboard gearhead but Atlas was far from the best of the old timers. He had a good marketing campaign but guys like sig klein and sandow were a lot better built.

I was actually gonna say the same thing...where do you guys think this all started? with Arnold? Not.2Thick said:You guys sound like a bunch of jealous little girls.
