Iran vs. US - everyone is threatening nukes. Looks like Russia and China will support Iran...do you think this might come into effect or is this going to be cold war II?
 
I told you guys some time ago.

If this happens the only one people who is gonna loose something are us. North America & Europe and our allies. Iran will use nuclear weapon or terrorists attacks against us without any remorse. Our democracies NEVER will do that. NEVER.
They have nothing to do. And they believe in their (wrong) ideas. If some European or American country use nuclear weapon we'd have the left side barking about how bad we are, and how racist and bla bla bla...

Some days ago, a former regional President of Catalonia, one of the regions of Spain said that: "Our problem (in Occident) is not the people who is coming (arabs, muslims). Our problem is that they believe in their ideas while us don't believe in nothing anymore". AMEN.
 
Isreal will bomb the nuclear facilites in Iran in the next couple of months if not weeks. This is going to be the issue, because we are Isreal's primary alley and we will support and back them. Remember: we made them a super power in that region to watch our back and this will be the next attack. Isreal vs. Iran..

I tend to agree that it will wind up being Isreal bombing Iran and that causing it's own set of problems..and off topic but I also think the soldier that killed the 16 civilian Afghanies should be tried and executed for causing the fall out that's going on there..Nvm knowingly killing children.

Now why would China go to war with a country that owes it trillions of $$ - holds most of its reserve currency in $$ and is the #1 importer of its products?

Isrial and US connection should have been done away with long ago. isrial (in my op) is who is in the wrong. (the majority anyway)
 
This can't be allowed to happen.

Fortunately it's not particularly urgent, despite all the rhetoric. Iran is not going to develop a deliverable weapon overnight.

But we can sure as fuck make it worse. Beating the war drums will just convince Iran that they need the nuclear weapon, it's not a good negotiating strategy.

Have we ever stopped to think that the dude could be really fucked up from the head.. Some of these guys have been on like 5 tours, seeing crazy shit. He is partly to blame. But man lets bring back these soilders that have seen nothing but war. Only reason why we left Iraq is to get into Iran. Plain and simple. The president and ppl on top of the chair have their share in blame with this. Let's just bring out troops home.
 
My dad saw 3 and a half years straight through of nothing but war in the South Pacific. He came home and got a job and worked and had a family and supported us and lived a long, happy normal life.

Now everyone needs drugs and fucking counseling.

That's a great point except from a historical perspective, many countries have gone to war with their primary trading partner.

When Israel invaded Lebanon in 2006 (apart from certain issues with Hezbollah and the Golan) it was for 1 real purpose--to see how Israel's current configuration of hardware fared against whatever Iran had w/Hezbollah as the stalking horse. The result was there were issues with certain Iranian land-based anti-tank missiles (from Russia) and some other smaller things but also as an early test to their missile shield (like 100% effective against the shit coming out of Gaza but untested against higher-arc medium range of which Hezbollah used). The victims were the Lebanese people most of whom had no dog in fight but got used by Hezbollah--and Israel.

So, I suspect, that is why Israel has used other methods against Iran and why I am not sure, despite what everyone thinks, Israel is ready to go to a full out conventional war--the IDF is good and equip is the best, but Iran has been able to keep up via Russia and China. In the end, this will just be another game played by two powers but acting as surrogates for US/Russia-Putin/China...like the last 60 years

The Neo-Cons in the US think the same way. Before they took down the PNAC web site, there were some position papers from the 1990s that said that the military needs to be trotted out for an operation every few years to keep them sharp. These are the people who brought us the Iraq war.


I wonder if PNAC is gone, or if they just went underground?

I suspect we have some unofficial involvement but I think there is a certain reticence b/c I think an awful lot of people were surprised that democracy does not equal pro-western--or much-less stable. There is that certain sense of security in the semi-predictable devil you know---Iran is the wild card b/c of the ruling structure. When they cut the $$ off this weekend I think things will get ugly fast.

It's mostly all rhetoric (just like with the UK & Argentina atm regarding the Falkland Islands) but I wouldn't be surprised if the Western world "intervened" in Syria in some form, perhaps it'll be the next playground for some sort of conflict.

I doubt the UK would commit to any sort of near future conflict anyway other than OMLT (mentoring & liason). Our armed forces are virtually broke & we're making 20% of our forces redundant over the next 2-4 years.

long term occupation would fail, but str8 out war they stand no chance...their navy and air force just aren't up to par

You really only get to fire off one nuke, before the rest of the world flattens your ass. It would be a form of suicide really, if Iran ever lobbed a nuke at Israel, Tehran and every military base in Iran would be craters within minutes.

I'm far less concerned about silo-based ICBM's than I am about 10-20 bombs proliferating to a variety of terrorist organizations.

Imagine if we chased 90% of them down. That may still mean a few get through. By the time the second or third nuke goes off in a major metropolitan area, the panice alone would probably kill more than the nukes themselves. Imagine a nuke going off in New York, then London and then someplace fairly innocuous like Stockholm or Paris. You'd probably starve/disease/kill truckloads of people as they fleed places like Los Angeles, Rome, Denmark, Dublin, etc. etc. You could probably panic 5% or 10% of each city and still melt it down.

But for any strategic war, they'd nuke Oak Ridge National Laboratories pretty early I'm guessing. That's 20 minutes from my house.
