Working out while sick?

Unless I'm real sick, I still hit the gym. I dope myself on cold medecine and try and have the best workout I can, even if it's not my best. I try and rest as much as possible beyond that and get plenty of liquids (as always) and Vitamin C.
 
I may not gain any muscle at all while working out and being sick, but at least I will maintain what I have. After about 3 days off I can see myself getting smaller and my muscles start to feel stringy. I have a horrible cough right now, but I WILL get to the gym at least every other day to maintain what I have, because I lose size so fast.
 
Intersting post, considering all the sinus shit I've been dealing with for years. It is very hard to stay away from the gym for me, but still I will not go when sick with certain things. IMHO:

Don't go when:
Running a fever
Flu-like symptoms, causing body aches, nausea, vomiting
Feeling absoulutely shitty with something else, ie severe cold or sinus infection

Do go when:
A minor common cold
Nasal congestion, etc.
Two days after fever subsides

Do shorter less intense workouts. Exercise stimulates the immune system, but our usual intense bodybuilding workouts can ovrtax it, so just do a shorter stimulating workout. I find that when my allergies or sinus issues are blocking up my nasal passges, once I get training, they open right up--physioligically, they expand, as do the bronchial tubes/lungs. Plus all those hormones the body pumps out act as anti-inflammatories. Cool shit!
 
so long as it's not muscle aches etc..........I will throw my ass in the fucking gym!

If it's sinus or congestion, I'll be aight....

No, when I am sick I don't go to work, and if you don't go then the company can send an inspector for a surpise visit and put a thermometer in your ass.

Also when I am sick I cannot give 100% so I won't go anyway.

No way, no point, just feel even more sick and am more likely to injure myself. When I am sick I conserve all my energy to get better.
 
I am still getting over this flu and I lost 7 lbs in three days from puking and other ways. I hope most is just water and I will be back in the gym soon. I have been off for 5 days now and I still feel like shit. Broke fever and no longer puking so I think I will be able to lift in the next day or so.
 
I found out that this strain of flu I had put 3 of my work friends in the Hospital over the weekend with 103 degree temps. The doc put 3 bags of fluid into my one buddy. Hope nobody gets this shit. If you see someone coughing start chewing up your vits.
