working out soreness

Hey guys,
I took four months off from lifting and I have never went that long before. I'm sore as hell after my chest workout. Does stretching help to loosen up or does that hurt the healing process? I can't wait to see how I feel after legs...I'm going easy with the workouts but the stiffness is pretty good. Any sugestions?

stretch yourself before you workout...reduces risk of pulling something...when sore i stretch b4 bed and when i wake up....when you wake up it's gonna hurt so be ready fo that

Like to hear from others on how you work out your soreness...(DOMS)....

Massage? Stretching? Ben-gay? Jacuzzi?

If you could guys could see me sit on the crapper the following two days after my leg workouts, I'd have you rolling in the aisles..... :)
 
Swimming makes the biggest single difference for me. I try to do a few lengths after heavy work.

That, and since I started working each bodypart more than once a week, I've noticed DOMS has lessened. I've been careful this last few months to gradually increase the volume of work I'm doing. It's made a huge difference.
 
be careful about stretching when you wake up in the morning. your muscles should be warmed up before you stretch; otherwise, you could quite easily hurt yourself.
 
the band work is good. stretching post workout for sure, sometimes twice a day. that deep cold stuff is great too. heat pads, etc also
