Working on the railroad

I got offered an interview for a job with Union Pacific working on the train crew, supposedly its a great company to work for. Does anyone have any experience working in this industry?

I work hand in hand with Norfolk Southern, they do all the shipping for my company and most of those guys have shitty comments to make about how fucked up it is. These are mostly the guys switching and shit thou, the choo choo drivers all seem to love that shit. WHat exactly will you be doing?

i know a few people that work for the railroad...they all seem pretty happy...although, some of them do work out of town a lot...it's one of the few industries that still has a genuine "pension" for a retirement plan.

I had a buddy go to work for CSX. The starting position was very physical and long hours. After a matter of months, he moved up and now loves his job. Good pay, good benefits, great pension.

Dont forget to grow out your handlebar moustache and wear a top hat to fit in with the old timers.
