working night shift soiks... :(

because of vacations and management stupidity, i have to work midnight to 8am for 4 days...i mean nights... this week.

for this short period of time, this shift is terrible! jst when i get my sleeping schedule adjusted i will rotate off this shift.

It sucks rnch...believe me.

I did it for 3 1/2 years.

It was a nightmare. Permanent jet lag, as referenced above.

I had an incredibly hard time sleeping after the first 6 months or so. I would go 2-3 days with only a couple hours sleep.

Then there is the daytime noise factor. People won't shut the hell up to let shift workers sleep, but they have no problem making use of and 24 hour services when it suits their needs. eg, 24 hour medical service, phone, electrical etc. Not realizing the person giving them medical attention, for example, may be the same person they kept from sleeping for days with their incessant noise. grrrrrr....

I work 7 pm to 7 am. Yup, it sucks. But I get a decent shift differential.
