Word on Carbonated Drinks (D.Sprite etc)

i used to be a diet coke JUNKIE. i could down a couple liters a day :o ...i discovered this awesome carbonated flavored water--it's sold at walmart. called sam's choice 'clear american' sparkling water.

caffeine free
sugar free
SODIUM FREE!!!
(and obviously, calorie free ;) )

it comes in TONS of awesome flavors, too..peach melba, sour watermelon, and mango peach are my favs!!

When I used to drink a couple of diet sodas a day I was retaining a lot of water in my back. Now that I am down to one or two every two weeks my water retention is just fine.

I drink a 6-pack of safeway brand caffeine free diet coke every day. Each soda has a whopping 35mg of sodium and of course there is no caffeine. Even a 12 pack of this stuff has less sodium than 1 can of tuna so I doubt it causes any water retention. Even if it did, who gives a shit. Mild water retention doesn't hamper fat loss and isn't anything that can't be remedied in about a week. So if you diet for 8 weeks drink as much diet soda as you want for 7 of them and then stop for the last one.

It's really not that difficult so don't make it that way.

This is turning out to be a great post..
Je.Knee. I know those drinks you are talking about, i like them too..
But Vageta thats a agood point. Who cares because if thats the worst is a little water retention that can be gotten rid of in a short time. I dont think i will worry about it either..
thanks

Ok bros.. what is the final word on drinks like Diet Sprite or Fresca.... do they (carbonatred) have any negative impact on your health or diet? what do you guys think?

The big problem is not dehydration, nor is it electrolyte imbalance. It is protein synthesis which is slowed down (negatively) by carbonation of the drink.

I heard somewhere years ago that carbonated beverages will contribute to decalcification of bones. Dont know how much credance to leand to it but it was enough to make me quit drinking carbonated beverages all together and I wont touch them now. Also, sugarfree beverages tend to be sweetened with equal or sweet n low. So you have your choice of getting fat from sugar, getting cancer from sweet n low or forgetting everything with equal. :)
