A commonly held belief of the TRUE vets (those with us for over 2 years) is that the new wave of people on this board flame too much, act immaturely, and don't do their own leg work.
They don't respect the vets (those that deserve it) and are more concerned with petty arguments, KARMA, # of posts than TRUE REAL WORLD KNOWLEDGE.

When I was new to the board in 99 the board was a family, when a debate (notice ITS DEBATE AND NOT AN ARGUMENT) occured, it was civil and well thought out. If you said something you had to back it up with verfifiable facts. You didn't personally insult people. You didn't post 3 questions in a row and let others do the work for you.

Now its more important than ever to do your own research why? b/c 75% of the people that post answers have no clue what they are talking about. So do yourself a favor and search and research things for yourself if your still lost, pose a well thought out clear question that shows you have looked but are still missing pieces to the puzzle. Present your question providing all the info necessary.

I am tired of the flames. Disagreeing is ok and good for progress in truth, but personal attacks, flames, and immaturety will get you banned.

Basically speak with reason and respect or dont speak at all.
 
Good post SLopain but unfortunately I know some people here will keep acting like kiddies. There's 3 threads daily about ** products, about clomids post cycle, the best first cycle...... blablabla. We put an end to this on the Spanish board with 2 sticky that newbies must read before asking questions. I think there should be one like this here too :)
 
I try to stay mature as much as possible, but the worst comes out in me when i read ryanh's post. Therefore i try not to read them.
 
I must concur with Slo on this. We try to help as much as possible, but lately it's like beating a dead horse...this alone has driven the Vets and older Mods in hiding, only to emerge when a topic is thought out, and responded to in a mature fashion.

I would like to see those days return as well...We all, and I mean all, have to work together...as for the Karma, I personally feel it's better suited for the chat board....but agian, that's just me....

Matt, E2, Fukkenshredded, the list goes on and on. Ranger, 2Thick, Mac and others that still participate only due so at a fraction of what the used to, and yes schedules change - but I have to think (party because they stated so) that the primary reason this wealth of knowledge is drying up is because they arent rebutted with knowledgable debates, but childlike name calling.

I don't want to sound like Im preaching, but more than that I dont want to lose the knowledgable people that we have left.

Nice post and very true. Folks need to realize that most of the everyday posters know nothing about bodybuilding only trying to be popular online. We try our best but sometime sthe bullshit makes you ask yourself is it worth it.
 
I agree with you 100 % bud! When I first joined this board a while back all the old vets and mods were here posting regularily and the threads I would come here and read everyday were interesting and filled with knowledge. Now, instead of that I see flames everywhere and the quality of the threads has gone WAY down hill. If think that is we can actually cut down the number of flames and stupid answers then we will be able to regain the guys back to the board. I love Elite and consider it a second home and would like to see it back like it was in the "old days" when I was still a little newbie. That is why I am over reading at AF a lot as they are all there and if you guys saw the quality of threads over there the knowledge is endless. Help us clean it up bro's

I think about 2-3 months ago, was when All hell broke loose on this Board. Flames left and Right. It was pretty Fucked up. I remember Prior to registering, how god damn SMART so many of tha people on these boards where, and was very fucking impressed.

I would usually read T-mag and random muscle mags as my source of info for bodybuilding, when I found this Board I was blown away by the amount of INFORMATION, that made sense and was highly practical.

The improvements I have made in my own physique definitely shows, and I give most of the Credit to the info and more importantly motivation I got off of this Site.

Basically, this site, is awesome and I don't want to see it getting fucked uP. Although I must admit, for the past Month, things seem to have gotten A LOT better, hopefully though It can become more of a "family thing" again, but I honestly don't know how that's gonna happen, this board is growing extremely fast, and a lot of people who register (not all, but a lot) don't give a fuck about maintaing board commradery or order, and instead just want to get some info and leave.

We just have to remember that everyone who is on this board, signed up basically to Better themselves, once we soak that in our heads, then I think we'd all get along much better.

This is why I like this board so much. A lot of KNOWLEDGE on everything. From gear to training to respect. I love reading a post from all the MODS always filled with such REAL KNOWLEDGE and not bs. So thanks to all of the MODS. Much respect! Keep all of us on the cutting edge of everything!

Good post. I will admitt I have gotten into a couple of flames, I tend to get fired up when someone says somthing assanine. I have since been trying to chill and impart what knowledge I have gathered in 22 years of training 16 years of competitive BB, And 9 years of gear use, Oh yeah new year now ....Make that almost 10 years! I hope the day comes when I can reach Moderator status. In the meantime I will do what I can to help.

I agree with what everyone is saying but an example is when i need some help answering i question i might do a search and find related information that was posted like 2 months, 3 weeks or even 1 week before. Sometimes people want up to the minute info and for alot of new people including myself we don't want to waste our money on scammers or products that won't get us where we want to be.

We want to hear is straight out of your mouths...the experts and pro's.

When i do a search for an anabolic, let's say, and i find 40 different threads pertaining to that subject yet everyone of them suggests different things is does get confusing. What is needed are constant answer that are relative, make sense and are answered in a respectful kind of way. So 1 month down the line when some new guy does a search and comes up with the 30 newer threads and all the answers are the same(for that same question that is) then he/she will decide not to ask it because he is reassured and not confused.

Yet again i am not complaining because i believe most mods and long time users of EF are great, insightful and helpful. Thanks again.
 
Good post..i agree...lately i don't see any good posts and haven't been posting as often...its like everyone in the world heard about Elite, and a bunch of new guys joined at the same time, and the flames go hear and there....i think this flaming thing got more intense, when other boards on elite were created like chat and conversation, and Elite Between the sheets. Not that they aren't good boards for the topics being discussed, but i think the flaming started getting really intense there..
 
I havent been around that long....just a few months...

when I first posted....I had been given a handful of gear and really didnt know what to do with it. I came here after much searching trying to find an informative site that I could learn from.

It was like an oasis to me....The vets and Mods were pretty ruff on me for not doing any research and insisting on using that gear even though i had no idea what i was doing....but i learned and am still learning.

I am thankful for the vets....

I have read a few of your posts, this thread was not intended toward you, for the most part you seem knowledgable and back up your points of view, which is all we want - now there were a few threads of question. <clearing throat> j/k bro. You know who the types the general gist of this post is directed too: ill manered, unpatient, get to 250 4 % in 4 week, immature ones.

heheh....hey bro, it's always cool to lurk on elite every month or 2, like i have been doing....but i figured it wouldn't hurt any if i posted every once in a while :)

hawaii was VERY good to me, and so was San Diego before hawaii.....but i went back into the army and got stationed in Fort Lewis, my hometown. i used to compete around these parts back in the mid-90's, but now i'm coming back a hell of a lot bigger and ready to kick ass of those who've beaten me in the past years :)

although i have been competing and using longer that when i first found elite fitness, it is here that was my starting place in the world of online juice knowledge. i will be in from time to time, commenting on interesting threads...you guys know where to find me; i have mod duties on some OTHER board....LOL

PS what the hell is this KARMA shit?

EXACTLY! This is how most of us were initatiated, ask a dumb question their would be some well manered flames BUT in those flames would be constructive criticism, mainly do some research on this and read up. The archives hold such a wealth of knowledge, a newbie would be better off reading through the archives for a few months to get a qood backround of cycling, techniques, and products.

Tis is the attitude we all should have: maybe I know alot maybe I don't but we are always learning and open to well reasoned thoughts.
 
Great post Slopain. I learned everything I know about juice on this board, AF and self experimentation. I check this board just about everyday for new info. It sucks to see how little the vets that I learned from post anymore. Don't get me wrong there is still a wealth of knowledge here but this board used to be overflowing with knowledgeable bros who have since all but moved on or RARELY post anymore.
 
Nice post Slopain. These boards are supposed to be fun. When they stop being fun, I stop posting. And elite hasn't been fun for a looooong time.

And I agree that some of those vets have unreal knowledge, just waiting to be imparted to those who need it. However, not in a climate like this.
 
Just wanted to throw some support your way from the ladies' board as well. Thanks to WarLobo and our other vigilent mods, we have a benevolent but zero bullshit tolerance and there is some fantastic information, support and commeradery over there, and above all, respect for those who know and those who want to learn. I was a classic example of the uniformed public, even though I've been around gyms for several years already - all I knew about AS was what the media taught me - not much.

Since I"ve been on elite I've learned more than 2 natural competitions, a couple low budget trainers and one very expensive trainer could teach me about training, diet & AS. Coming from that background, I can tell you that the newbies are the ones who need the MOST to know what the hell they are doing and not to start spouting their extremely limited (if any) knowledge about AS. If there is ANY topic that should make people stop and pay attention to the vets, it is the use of hormone, emotion & metabolism-affecting chemicals .

Props to the gurus that have kept the rest of us out of dire trouble so far and respect for those who continue, despite the juvenile delinquents who are next to get burned.
 
Lots of us are guilty of being "testy" with posters, I know I am. But even when I registered, which wasn't that long ago, 2thick and Ranger still battled on a regular basis. Those threads, while having comedic value, contained more valuable information than I've probably seen posted in the last two months. I now troll around at AF to see probably the most insightful anabolics threads on the net. It's amazing to think that most of those guys used to participate over here as well. It's a shame that they no longer, or rarely, do so any more.
 
Doesn't it seem like there's a post like this just about every other week or so. I still love this place though... :D
 
Thank you Slopain. I thought that I noticed the flames getting hotter but wasn't sure if I was being overly sensative or not. Glad to see I wasn't the only one. Maybe some folks will get a clue before they post.

And I have been researching for about 2 months on lots of differant gear, everytime I find more information on what I am looking up it gives differant advice than the last!

Like my question 'fist cycle advice' I read up on it then asked people about DBol and the replys I got back gave me differant information than what I had been reading, so i am glad I posted what most of you feel is a 'stoopid question'!!!!

I think you should be able to post as many stoopid questions as you need, just so you can see what stuff you have been reading is bollox and what is not!

I have a board of 10thousand members, people ask stoopid questions all day long, but we accept it as part of life, we certainly do not flame newbies as we all had to start somewhere!

My 2pence worth, dont flame me too much! ;)

Whats the point of trying to help someone if they don't listen to you anyway, or "argue" with you when they ask for help!

I only help those that ask for it I won't ever write any papers for this board or any others until I am assured it won't be erased by a Moderator that has a different oppinion than I have.

I like this board but its "HOT" number one

Number 3 No one can carry a converstation without getting pissed off when they are wrong.

If I'm wrong I'm the first to admit it. Others have a problem with this.

I've felt like that for months now. I rarely ever post for all those reasons. This used to be THE board, now it's AF for class and quality info.
 
Pretty good comments on this thread. And I agree with your observations and remarks, Slopain.

"This small world in which we travel," to quote your words of the past, Slopain, has changed. It will keep changing. This board has certainly changed, and I just don't see the quality of information or the mature controversy that stimulated thought provocation much these days. I suppose there is not much incentive.

I'm sort of a creature of habit, and I like the good brothers and sisters of this board (those who've remained and contributed) and will continue to hang on EF as "my major board"... but it's just not the same anymore.

My preference over the last several months has been small, subscription boards whose members are highly knowledgeable, participative, and have very little desire to see the boards become "visible" and where newbies join only infrequently, yet are welcomed. It's fun to be a Mod there. Nobody flames anybody else, people get along, people help one another out, threads don't get gratuitously vaporized, etc.

I'd like to see the old days of un-Karmatized EF. I fear what BigJay has said is right, though.

Amen,brotha.This place was so tight a couple of years ago,none of the kindergarten bullsh*t.Nowadays,every other post is someone calling the person they disagree with a f*ggot,etc,and no one ever uses the search to look for their answers before asking something that has already been answered 300 million times,which often leads to the above name calling B.S. as well....Come on folks,we are all in this for the same purpose,to achieve our own personal physical greatness,and improve upon our intellectuality regarding the processes towards getting us there.Let's bring back the comraderie of the old days....
 
My opinion is that there are a lot of people in this board that are immature and useless.

To be honest, I find this board HOSTILE. It is not pleasant anymore to post or even to look through posts. For what? To hear teens flaming each other? There is nothing wrong in being a teen but, please, try to think (just a little ) before you write some stupid remark. I have been, for the most, going to other boards where people answer to your questions in a corteous way and give you quality information.

In my opinion, the only people here that are worth listening to are most (not all) of the moderators.

When I signed up a few months ago it was not like it is today. It's getting worst, and worst til the point that is not worth it sometimes to bother asking a question.

I always come back at least once or twice a day cause there are a few moderators that helped me when I did not know anything and were extremely nice and knowledgable. Even helped me get sources.

I don't want to suggest that all young posters are immature, but it does seem that the "mental age" of posters has declined in recent months. I think there's been an influx of youngsters who are more interested in goofing around, typing dirty words, and namecalling than in more adult discourse.

One way we can discourage this is just by ignoring trolls. If we take the bait (as I've been known to do from time to time) it just makes things worse.

This sounds negative, but I still love these boards and have gotten to know some really interesting, intelligent, informed people on them.
 
good post slopain, i also really like how the board was 2 years ago, thats when i thought it was the funnist cause no one really insulted people that much and there was too much good info that everyone new, and the debates were great, back then thats all i used to do was read,learn and read even more, i didnt even post untill i was on the board for 3 months, i just did what all the vets said to do which was read and learn as much as u can before u start sticking yourself with something u have no idea about, which is what alot of the newbies r doing these days. i think a post block would be great, where u cant post untill u been on the board for 3 month that way people can just read and learn for 3 months and then come out and ask the technical questions. just a suggestion
 
i am new to the board .i found the board by accident .but glad i did.im in my 30s i have done almost everything.i started doing juice when i was 20 yrs. old im not proud of that but im not ashamed either.when i started taking it you could get almost anything and everyone seemed to be willing to help out.now the laws make us hide behind keyboards.but i think androgens has improved my quailty of life.ive done a lot of sh t some i would recomend some i would not. i will try to help out when i can i hope you can help me when i need it just wanted to give a little bio. like each other or not were all part of a twisted little family h-train
 
BTW the Platinium board is probably the only place on EF where you can have a civilized discussion. It looks like EF back in 98....

You guys are absolutley right. I have been here longer than alot of people, and all I do is read, read and then read some more. I don't give info. because I don't feel that I should or that what works for me would work the same for someone else, but alot of knowledgeable people are here and people should be reaping the benifits instead of flaming every damn post.
 
I agree 100%. It is a shame as this board was always the provider of excellent information and as you say good DEBATE. It is through this that we all have a common goal which is to laearn about the subject.
IMO the flames and the unwillingness to help has taken this board backwards instead of forwards and hence why many post elsewhere now.

Anyway, that was when this board was the best and it's only gone downhill since then. I come back once a year or so to see the same old crap about flaming and 12 years olds giving out cycle info. This place will never change until it's moderated properly and you can blame George for that. Until next year........get your act together kids!!!!

I don't post a lot, and I'm no pro, but I have been around since July 2000...the quality of discourse on this board has definitely declined since then...I honestly wonder why

is it the flame wars?

is it because of the new mods? (I don't think so)

possibly it's because the old mods have, in large part, disappeared...I wonder if George could entice some of them to participate more often

maybe EF needs a mod whose only function is to regulate flame fests and warn transgressors

IMO, those who resort to insults to win an argument do so because they have already lost the argument
 
Slopain, why not delete ALL new threads asking something that has been asked a million times before e.g. 'clomid post cycle', 'how much nolvadex' bla bla bla...its REALLY annoying to read 70 new threads of which 95% have been asked, turned around and answered before. Start using the DELETE button, guys. :D :D

Hello to the vets.

I have not been on EF for that long. Though I was interested to know more and to get involved for the first time I was nontheless appreciative of all the information that I got. I had no problems doing research but just needed a clue as to where to start looking. Facts always help and in the end no matter what sound advice you get it is still a judgement call on behalf of the individual as to what to do. I must admit I did not know the "good old days" of this board but I am very thankful that I got a friendly hand and nudge from those as to what sources other than the search to go and look to help make a decision. Thanks to the mods as well that helped with other things.

Sorry to hear that for the vets and some of the mods that immaturity of a few is causing a downhill spiriling effet to the feel of this board. I consult this board for information and I am glad that I can since I really don't have the means (don't own a credit card to get a platinum memembership) so I therefore hope that it will not be killed.

Thanks again to the veterans and to those helping and understanding mods to curious newbies that are willing to do research to make informed decisions.
 
Well said, I mainly lurk now, but just for fun I posted something on how to hold excess water prior to a photo shoot - could have been answered with simply: Take Na2+, or try this new herb. Instead I get a bunch of dipshits trying to boost their reps by attacking me. I also get a guy by the handle of Cure basically calling me a liar about the purse in the contest - WTF??? I haven't been flamed since Naprox, StantheMan, Cryptonite, Rock4ist, Krusher, and Animal were roaming the board, so it was pretty fucking shitty to come back and get a bunch of smart ass comments from the new guys. I just hope Slopain, Cuba, E2, BPP, and all the mods clean this place up. There's no need to talk shit to people - if someone doesn't know their stuff, just refer them to a website or link them to a relevant post. We all had to start somewhere. The flames and bullshit have gotten way out of hand - hope this is just a temporary dip and not a permanent thing.

That summed it up pretty well, Slopain - thats why I dont post over here as much as I used to - now on a "flame free" board - but still love EF for all its good things and wish I had a little more time to spend here - it is vital not to piss off people like macro and E2 by all this childish nonsense that they spend their very valued time elsewhere. On AR we were enormously fortunate to get The Iron Game and Ranger on as mods and I think this was due at least in part to the frequency flames over here.
 
I don't spend nearly the time on the board as I did 10 months ago, just not as much reliable and informed new information.
Still come when I need a legitimate question asked re training or a cycle.
