**Wisdom vs. Wealth** (which would you choose)

Shaolin Ninja
If you had to choose Wisdom or Wealth, which would it be? Its either one or the other. Situations where one might say "well if I had wisdom I would eventually have wealth" are not allowed or "if I was wealthy I could hire the most reknown scholars to teach me wisdom". Those are not possibilites. Please choose either Wisdom or Wealth and state why you chose your answer.

Peace

without hesitation -----> wisdom

wisdom is wealth to me..

i shall never stop attending school or reading on buddhism.. i shall never stop being in touch with current events.. i shall never stop learning about the past.. i shall never stop learning..

the more i learn the more i want to learn. i want to learn and know as much as there is to learn and know while i'm on this earth.. learning makes me happy.. a happiness that is better than any brought about by wealth..

wisdom and knowledge enrich me in a way that no amount of money ever could.

An angel appears at a faculty meeting and tells the dean that in return for his unselfish and exemplary behavior, the Lord will reward him with his choice of infinite wealth, wisdom, or beauty.

Without hesitating, the dean selects infinite wisdom.

"Done!" says the angel, and disappears in a cloud of smoke and a bolt of lightning.

Now, all heads turn toward the dean, who sits surrounded by a faint halo of light. At length, one of his colleagues whispers, "Say something."

The dean sighs and says, "I should have taken the money."

wealth, cuz im a smart guy, but that doesnt score high with chicks. But a nice car does :D
Is this a serious response?
You say " a nice car scores high with some chicken head ", is that the girl you want to be around, you want your family to meet, you know "the girl who likes me cause I drive a nice car", does not make much sense to me. peace

Wisdom....

Wealth does not create happiness.. it only brings more problems. People can take your money but they can not take your wisdom/knowledge.

Good one Havoc. Really nice point about "do you want to be with some chicken head?"

Look - not to be a dick but I had a few really good breaks in business and I have set myself up well. And to be honest with you, it is really nice. I'm not out picking up chicken heads, but I do things I could never do before: I have a Lexus instead of my old Saturn, just made an offer on a riverfront home, and I have made myself comfortable.

My best friend is "9-digit wealthy", and it's the same thing: no chicken heads, nice cars, big house, relaxation, comfort, travel, etc.

Wisdom, I am afraid, while it would be truly wonderful, might cause more torment than anything. How often I have been truly disappointed in people! How often have I (in my limited wisdom) seen through the fraud and shortcoming of people, and worse, their inability / lack of desire to better themselves!

In short, why possess wisdom in a world that lacks it? What is the value of wisdom, in a world of people closed to it?

I'll take the cash, and pray for perspective.

I hear you, I also feel that I am in a solid financial situation(hope that stays), I have been very blessed with opportunity, also I understand your words of "the more you know, the more pissed off/irritable things/people are", yet I would choose Wisdom, Wisdom encompasses all elements of intelligence, it can help you understand that others do not understand in some circumstances enabling you to ignore the garbage of today that would be considered annoying or negative. peace

Call him/her wise whose actions, words and steps are all clear....

I'll take wisdom anyday.. Being consumed by wealth and keeping it can create a lonely jail!

If you were wise and poor you might realize that you miss money.
(someone might say that wise people don´t want money)
If you were rich and average intelligent i don´t think you´d miss something.

I´d choose money.

Wisdom and a whole lotta dumb luck.

Who knows - with enough good luck and timing you may just stumble across wealth.
