Who is ready to get slammed by a harsh ass winter?

I grew up in the "Frozen Tundra" but haven't really experienced a real ass biting winter from there in a little over a decade. I may this winter for a few weeks.....I'm phuck-ed!

Thanks for depressing me with the thought of winter...Got any other ways to make me feel bad ;-)
Is the Stang going away for the winter?

I'm looking forward to this heating season and how my HVAC system will perform with the tweaks, insulation and air sealing I've been doing in my house..

It depends on the weather....Where I live now it is possible to only see a couple of days with snowfall, then again i've seen a blizzard here too but after that thawed, there was no more snow for the wimter. Back home is a diff story.

I hope this cheers you up!

hahahha.....you meanie! I am going to find a pic of a wrecked stang.....with blood and snow ;-)

Well, my blood is so damn thin, now that the thermometer drops below 65 degrees I have broken out my 'long' spandex training clothes & thick sox. I also drink coffee to stay warm vs. to wake up.

God I hate being cold.

I do agree that I'm not comfortable in A/C, however for me its more of a "I grew up in the frozen tundra in the coldest room in the house and walked 20 miles to school in 10 ft of snow up hill both ways carrying a 200 lb book bag for 20 yrs" and then moved to Ft. Lauderdale.

You bet my blood is thinned out.

Does that get you all hot & bothered mojo? Esp the thick sox? What if I told you I still don't wear underwear w/ the long spandex? :chomp:

That could actually be a very sexy look on some women, not all can carry it off.

I wish I had a wood furnace I could use for heat.

I have a feeling my HVAC it going to be very expensive this winter.

I am actually putting a woodburner in the week after next....A $200.00 woodburner should reduce my HVAC bill by 50% or more.

I don't know how some of you do it......with the snow and all. (snow, what's that?)
When I was little and my dad was in the air force we where base in S. Dakota....as little as I was I still remember the snow from there...cold. My ex always wanted to take me home (Michigan) in the winter and I just couldn't do it. I am like Sassy and Blueta2...The air is on 75 in office and I am chilled. :cold:

How are those things ventilated......they don't require a chimney do they?

Yes they do, generally about an 8-10 inch diameter stack....However it is a pretty easy install and can be hidden as well. The one I am getting has a blower in it and will get routed right into my existing HVAC vent system so it will blow the warm air through my regular vents.

Thanks, I may look into one of those also.

lol No, maybe $100 a month. I've dialed down my T-stat for optimum efficiency. Can't wait.

What kind of heat efficient procedures did you perform on said house?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Not much on the system itself other than fixing leaks, tuning, etc.. but the house itself has a lot of insulation upgrades as well as air sealing which I'm still doing to reduce the air coming in and escaping so the heat will stay in the house longer and not need to stay on.

My first floor heat goes on from 5AM to about 8AM and shuts off for the rest of the day until 5 AM again. It goes to 72 or 74? at 7 or 8AM and very slowly lowers down to 72-70 mid day, then 70-68 evening, then 68-66 night... til 5AM ON again. Those numbers are just a range, but pretty close to accurate. That is in middle of winter. This is the first floor. The second floor bedrooms get the heat while we're sleeping during the night. Heat rises and the upstairs is pretty warm to begin with. It works perfectly. Hence my "dialed it down" comment before. They're on programmable thermostats.

I have 6 thermostats in a 3 bedroom 1500 sf. house. Doh!
