my dad got worried about me taking flax oil, and accused me of thaking somthing i had nio idea about the risks of and not knowing what was good for my health....this from a man who consumes double the calories i eat clean in saturated fats
i then explain about what flax oil does, how it works and how it comes from a seed. he then goes into ignore everything my son tries to tell me because i am a stubborn ass, and then says, well i hope you know what ur doing.
its not a huge problem, as i get older i have to learn to cope with my parents senility....its just frustraing at times
same thing happens wityh protein, carbs, multivits, fish oils.....when i first bought a set of sumbells he laughed saying ill alwways be skinny and ill give up within a week....now he freaks out when i wanna join a gym 6 months later. he then points to the exercise bike and the set of now woefully ligt dumbells and proclaims 'arent they enough?'
or my friend. back when we were in school, he was a pot bellied (i dont lie) 11 stone, i a ripped 9. now he asks my weight. i say 12.5 stone. he laughs, says hes 12.5/13 stone and says hes always been that (said the same at 11.5).....he hasnt been to the gym in 3 years and proclaims that 1 tiring day he spent picking shells on the shore built him up and he;s naturally built, his friends rip on him for being a fat lazy chump who never exercise....he's a good bloke, but hes threatened by my growth so i am delibrately coy about it. once i acidentally put my arm on the desk (i was only 15" then, not much more now) and he freaked, kept asking to see my biceps. then he asked to see the weight i was curling and almost broke his back getting it up, the started profusely smiling...i dunno why he bothers, i hope he understands that im gonna build a little muscle over 6 months of going to the gym religiously, and that if he;s 13 stone at 5"7, hes probably got a cholesterol problem!
or the other rfriend who says protein is all u gotta eat to get big, but wontb listen when i say move of machines, lower your reps, eat more....he says he ate tons of protein yeaterday, i ask what, he says 2 pieces of chicken from KFC
....
after venting all that in summary its far easier to not discuss bodybuilding with anyone in briain as its soooo unpopular. i train alone, and just smile if a friend asks how o got that big.....now everyone thinks i was 12.5 stones in school when i was 9....its really quite funny that taking bodybuilding is seen as hardcore, how protein is seen as steroid taking and how all bodybuilders just bicep curl and bench press (on machines
)
