Now she's doing all this research on sleep apnea....

I told her "No big deal"....since I've got decent Life Insurance.

that doesn't sound good bro...might want to check it out at a doctor's - nothin against your wife but doc will know way more about wtf is goin on with you than she can find online...wouldn't want anything bad happening to a good bro :)

sleep apnea is becoming common actually, if you are a pretty big guy its more probable. there are a ton of different ways to help, from a CPAP to ways to open up your septum, it all depends on how badly you have it. They'll start with the bare minimum things to help and hopefully that will take care of it. it can be scary for the person watching it though!

it happens bro.

See a Dr. one time it will happen and you will freak.

you probably snore like a mofo! poor wife

I know I snore when I sleep on my back...I can sense it when I'm in that limbo sleep stage...

I usually sleep on my side...and was when she said I stopped....

Had a physical a few days ago; doc is supposed to call me with results of blood test, so I'll ask him about it....

yep, you do that. can this lead to death? or one will always resume breathing?
Can lead to death in rare cases. More often it's just that the interrupted sleep gives you very little REM sleep, so you areb't getting rejuvenated.
Can lead to, but not limited to, athersclerosis, stroke, fallling asleep while driving, falling asleep during sex, lowered sex drive, lowered insulin response, & a host of other shit I don't wanna scare you with.
Deal with it. It's not an in your face killer, like cancer, or emphysema, but it will do it.
I've been on a CPAP for almost a year.

Answering some questions:

>Don't smoke, don't drink....(what do you do? Adam Ant 80's, revisited)

>Weigh about 270, but not obese....mostly muscle with some tummy fat. I'd guess 18-20%.

>So far, I've always resumed breathing.... :)

>Hindu....what is CPAP?

It is a big deal!

You absolutely need to see a doctor, he will order a sleep pattern study on you, see how the apnea affects your REM and how many times it "wakes you" out of deep sleep per night. Sleep apnea can cause major health issues, including congestive heart failure! :worried:

Please have yourself checked out.

You do not have to be "fat" to have sleep apnea, you could have soft tissue behind your palate...they can resolve this with a fairly simple surgical procedure, you can also sleep with a mask (not so great, but better than heart failure, right)
