Why Would Anyone Want To Be A Cop?

I think Buck and Fro covered it. Also, you get a decent gun, a cool uniform, you can drive fast and not get a ticket, and you can take that night stick and shove it up someones ass and say it was part of a search!

Fun all the way around!!!

um, i'm GRATEFUL for cops because the officers who visited me and took me to the hospital this past weekend were really good. you could tell that the one guy really was angry about it.

they were great. it takes a special type of person imo.

THat's fine and dandy as long as they don't abuse the power vested in them by the people. They are a servant to the people, not their master - some officers forget this. I think it is hard for some people to be put in that position and not get intoxicated by the new power they have- always being right.

I think that it's one of those professions that people are "called to." I mean the pay's not that great, crappy hours, work holiday's/weekends, and YOU RISK YOUR LIFE DAILY FOR COMPLETE STRANGERS.

My brother is a police officer and I truly believe that he was chosen for that profession...I don't think he has a choice :)

My best freind from childhood is a cop now, and honestly I'm not really sure why he wanted to be one.

While I respect the work that police officers do, I have quite a bit of contempt for the ones who abuse thier authority. Believe me, it happens A LOT more than most people realize.

My step-dad teaches at the RCMP academy, and some of the stuff he tells me about cops just blows my mind. (For example, domestic abuse in ploice households is around 40%....yeah, no shit. )

Anyway, while I don't think society can function without some kind of law enforement, I generally don't agree with a lot of what the police enforce (anti-steriod laws, anyone?)
